Just like Kobe hasn't won a ring without Shaq, Brady hasn't won a ring without Vinateri, but Shaq and Vinateri have won rings without the other.

and NO.
How many superbowls have the Pats won without Vinateri???
<< <i>Does Bill still go for it on 4th down if Vinateri was his kicker instead of attempting a 50+ yard field goal? I don't think so.

Maybe so, but thats not the reason we lost. Our offensive line played the biggest part in our failure to get things going.

So what are you implying? The whole franchise revolves around a kicker? This is an idiotic analogy.

Not so idiotic - If the Pats had Vinateri do you think that they go for a FG on the 4th and 13? If they do and he nails it (good odds he would) then when NYG scores that last TD it's tied 17-17 instead of being down 14-17. This is a fair question, the Pats have never won a SB by more than a FG.
Hopefully people should understand the value of an eintire team, like it or not Vinateri is as much a part of that team's success as Brady or anyone else. Think about what could have been if he'd have been on the team in this game.
Team sports revolve around the team, so yes the kicker is just as vital as anyone else - not more, not less, just as important is my opinion.
Kobe is a whiner, Tom doesnt come across like that at all.

If you want a good NBA comparison for Brady you would need someone who has been league MVP and Finals MVP. Tim Duncan has won four to Brady's three, but they both lost as a number one seed, something Kobe Bryant never did. Right now he would be the better match
Brady's dad apparently did not chart his son's path to NFL stardom from the crib (i.e. like the father of Todd Marinovich who from birth was, in his dad's eyes going to be a star QB).
Kobe's dad is Joe (Jellybean) Bryant. Joe himself was an NBA player in the 1970's who played on the Dr. J led Sixer's teams. He had a long career in the NBA and after his NBA career was over, he played for years in Europe, living in europe with his wife and kid(s) (which is why Kobe, though black, is not from the hood and speaks multiple languages). Joe Bryant, from day one, had it all planned out that Kobe was going to be an NBA superstar. Unlike Todd Marinovich's exit from the NFL (so he could surf, do drugs and hate his dad), Kobe entered the NBA and remains there today. A magnificant athlete he is, but he is not liked by his teamates and is a self centered person who also had years of estrangement from his dad and family. As he matures as a player and a person, he can, if he chooses, be a team leader who makes other player's around him better (a la Jordon). if he does, he will probably win more rings and be the star of the team/league. He could also continue being selfish Kobe who scores a lot of points on a mediocre team with him averaging 25-30 shots a night and making an average of 8-10 shots a night.
It would be tough to have a father like Joe Bryant.
As for Brady, who knows how many rings he will win in the future. He could easily play another 10 years if he is not injured.
