well, the 2001 Sp Legendary Cuts made a deep impact on the hobby....as soon as they incorporated "common" sigs into "numbered" cards, people went nuts...
the industry hasnt looked back since...now that the " cut autos" are drying up, they are going for Perez Steelez, and HOF plaque autos...
at first the cut idea was great because it took a sig, usually on a blank white index card, and made a nice looking card out of it....now they take a nice auto on a hof plaque and make an ugly card out of it....still gathers the big bucks though....
Thats just how it is! People are still card collectors, but some advance to autographs, so whats better than a plain card? An autographed card
People will always pay more for a cut card, than just a regular index card or picture, or whatever. YOu can buy a Pete Maravich signed check for about 500 bucks, but then you cut that check up and put in on a UD Chronology card, and you got yourself a $3,000 to $5,000 card!
Look, the prices speak for themselves. Check this one out LINKY
Now, you can get a Nat Holman better looking auto than that on an entire letter, ot photo, or something nicer, but cut up something and put it on the card, and you got 1200 bucks
If your a card collector, then your a card collector, an index card will not do if your a card collector. YOu need the pros(UD, Fleer, Toops and so on) to make you a cut card. Because if you try to do it yourself, sure it might look good, but will it really be worth anything in the long run, or even right now? NO! People wana see the UD, Fleer, Topps and other major company logos on the cards.
The prices will always speak for thmeselves, and as crazy as it sound, people will always pay more for a piece on a card, than the whole item that was signed, thats just how it is, if your a card collector anyway.
If your an index card, or photo collector, or letters, whatever, that would be fine, but if your a card collector, only the cuts from major card companies will do!!!!!!!!

Me too!!!!!!!!
<< <i>Or the fact that it looks like they cut a sweet action 8X10? >>
Butchered is my word for it.
CDsNuts, 1/9/15
<< <i>The current price or the actual cut autograph?? >>
I'm not extreme to the point that it bothers me that they cut up something with a sig.
What amazes me is that someone is paying some $700 more for the sig just because it's "numbered"

I guess in a way I understand the logic, but it baffles me in this instance.

that has to be THE WORST CUT AUTO CARD ON THIS PLANET~!!!!! what a joke....companies should be ashamed of themselves....
edit: Haha, my edit was because I freakin' spelled Mantle wrong, not because I counted the letters wrong. I'm not sure which is worse, lol.

I think if I'm dropping that type of cash for a Unitas sig I'd find the extra $25 and buy the signed rookie card.
