I started collecting bullion because I believe it is one of the better "simple" long term investments. Plus, like J.P. Morgan once said " Gold is money and nothing else". JMO though.
I like the $5 Gold Eagles, especially in PCGS PR69 DCAM. Affordable and neat coins. They remind me of the artistry of small later roman bronze coins - so much detail in such a small space!
p.s. Congrats on your milestone...

My favorite are the 2007-W UNC platinum eagles. The designs are amazing. I also like gold because...well because its gold. That pretty much says it all.
I love the ASE series. There is nothing like a huge round of silver with a modern take on a classic design. The unc with the semi-matte finishes are breathtaking.
Well, I have to admit I really enjoyed the comments that many of you made. It did make me sorry to only have one $5 eagle to give away. I didn't want this to drag on too long and also since ozzyfan269 broke the run of 104 bullion posts before someone had to be nasty. The winner is "unknowncomic". Please PM me with a shipping address and I'll be happy to get this out to you.
Thanks again for all those that participated and I wish everyone the best. Griv
I got on the computer this morning and after reading my sons email from iraq I checked in here. You could imagine my surprise when I learned I had won Grivs super generous giveaway. After the kind of weekend I had it was a pleasant change of events for me and the wife. Thank you so very much Griv. I will treasure the $5.00 AGE.
I received the coin today and its beautiful . Thank you very much for the most generous giveaway. If I ever get to 1000 I have a huge problem trying to match the generousity of so many on the forums. I hope to live up to it though. Griv, THANK YOU.
