Ebay/Paypal scam, how did this happen?? HELP

I wanted a hard times token book, found one and clicked BIN. clicked the link on the auction to pay via pay pal and firefox pulled a box ssaying it was trying to take me to a site like paypal.api.com or something. How did this happen, was this a scam, I already changed my password. Could the seller have set it up to do this? Is there anything else I should do other than report it to ebay?

What most likely happened is that the sellers ebay account was phished and the hackers inserted the fake paypal/buy it now link into the poor guy' listings. My understanding is that this happens often.

This kind of scam could be a death blow to Ebay. I mean how could you trust ANYTHING.

The seller looks legit, you may try contacting him through ebay messaging and ask him if he is aware of this and possibly uses some other checkout that goes outside of normal paypal.

sinin, you're right. This seller used Auctiva which optionally supplies their own checkout system.

Looks just fine to me. I'd bet there's a problem with your computer, not the seller.
