<< <i>I am kind of confused with those that pay no taxes getting a refund though. How can you get a refund if you did not pay in the first place? However those folks probably could use the small amount of money a whole lot more than those making 150k+. >>

I agree on both accounts. Not getting a refund and not upset I don't qualify.

Justin as long as those people filed they are entitled to a check.

Also 'work' does not have to be manual labor.

    Good for you.

He was talking about the scientific meaning of work i believe.
Also, as much as i will enjoy 600 dollars, it will not do anything except put us in more debt overall, and raise inflation. Our government has a bad habit of printing money, and it needs to stop.

The more one is educated, generally speaking the less physical labor they will be required to perform coupled with a higher pay

I have a sneaking suspicion they won't be sending any checks to me.

  • << <i>So, once again the government logic goes like this "if you work your tail off and you and your wife make more than $150k, and you pay more in taxes than 90% of the population, then you don't deserve a refund. As a matter of fact, you not only don't deserve any of your tax money back, but we're going to give the money to those who paid NO TAXES at all".

    Oh yeah. >>

I "work my tail off" and so does my girlfriend. Unfortunately we don't make anything near that amount of money. We just had our first child so all three of us will be getting some of our own money back (well except for my son, he hasn't paid any taxes yet). I'm sure the government helps you in areas that it doesn't for me.

Poor folks pay LOTS of different kinds of government taxes and fees.

I have no problem with them getting a nice check. Most will spend
it on goods/services furnished by folks who DID NOT get such a
check. The money circle stays happy and keeps going around.

Very good point. In all honesty 300-600 bucks just does not go far these days. Maybe someone more needy than myself will be able to buy a new fridge or take their family out for a nice dinner which they could not normally do. I realize that those who do not pay any taxes are not exactly living the life of luxury.

  • The wife and I decided today that we want to have children within the next 3 years, so we're taking the money to start to pay off our debt so we can at least start to afford to take of a child. I then went and smoked a cigar in honor of my future children. It was great.
  • Wait, it's possible to afford a child? Just kidding.

    Having a child is awesome.
