What is it with the 1887 pieces (of all the silver denominations) that makes them color so vibrantly? Or is it just that more of them were saved long-term, so we see more of them.
I've encountered so many 1887 6d and 1s pieces with blue and green toning...
I can't wait to get back the DVD with the mega-DNG image files so I can get to "work" on cropping/masking these.
Most of this batch were new coins, except for my electric-iridescent 1856 halfpenny which Mark nailed as well as possible.
That 1887 reverse with the 'electric-blue' ring is a proof shilling, and the obverse is just an even, light cyan-greenish blue tone. Plus, it's in an old OGH....put there I s'pose by an early slab-pioneer......maybe I should crack it out, eh?
