Time to rub it in

Here is one of the places that I have gotten permission to hunt. I can only hunt there on Thursdays and the land owner gets first dibs on what I find. Small price to pay for hunting a HUGE piece of history.

    Wow.

I would happily share with the landowner, to be able to hunt something like that. You might end up in the aggravating position of digging a Civil War beltplate, only to have to hand it over, but that's OK. You'll get the thrill of the find, and pictures. Don't forget to bring a camera and take plenty of pictures!

Hopefully your first silver coin will be there, and will be sufficiently "modern" (in other words, 20th century) and low-value enough that the landowner will let you keep it. Again, it would be sort of harsh to find a high-grade Seated quarter or half dollar or gold coin and have to give it up afterwards, but as long as you keep things in perspective and tone down the natural greed that is within all our hearts, you'll have a great time, at the bare minimum.

PS- it ain't time to "rub it in" yet. Don't count your goodies until they're dug!

Y'never know- could be a total skunkfest. image

But it sounds like the odds for goodies are high.

sounds like a great deal... for the land owner!
  • I have to tell you that relics maybe found ,,but coins are doubtful in such a place ,,the way these prisons were run any money that the prisoners had would have been taken especially silver ones .

But relics are cool and there is always the chance that the land owner will let you keep some of your finds .

Not sure what the last two post are and I'm not sure I want to know. Regardless, there will be some coins around the area because right behind the prison area was a Soldier camp site. It was extremely large. We had the prison here, a large encampment of soldiers, and a HUGE "armory", if you will, right down the road. Great history here in Salisbury.

That is quite a variety of opportunities with all those activities. I hope you do well... Cheers, RickO
