GIANTS / PACKERS

softparadesoftparade Posts: 9,281 ✭✭✭✭✭
Lets go! I am starting this type of thread EARLY ! As a die hard GIANTS fan I firmly state "screw Brett Farve and the Packers .... and their stupid frigid air! I have no interest in the Brett Farve and the Lambeau FRIGID COLD mystique. I have interest in only a NY GIANTS upset win in Green Bay image

IF,IF,IF,IF,IF!!!!!! The Patriots get by San Diego, its a toss up on who I would like them to play......

IF,IF,IF,IF,IF!!!!!! They end up making it to the Super Bowl and winning it, Im not sure what would be sweeter? A revenge victory against Favre and the Pack or a Win against the Giants (because they are a NY team ofcourse)

The Giants have surprised everyone with their toughness.
And Farve can have lapses which lead to turnovers.
    I say its a toss-up who wins.

I've hated the Packers for a long time and thought Faver was way overrated. Sadly this year he has been brilliant. He isn't doing the stupid stuff that gets Green Bay beaten, or at a minimum requires him to bail them out later in the game. I think their game with the Patriots will be closer than their game with the Giants. Hope the Giants snuff them.

Eli hates playing in the cold, Favre loves it, I see Pack winning by a TD.

Tough call - Eli has really stepped it up nicely in the playoffs, especially not making costly mistakes. Favre still can be erratic at times. But the Packers are the fresher team...after the game last week, Favre looked like he could immediately play another 4 quarters. Packers are going to be very hard to beat here unless Favre makes a number of mistakes.

Tough talking smack against a classy franchise such as the Green Bay Packers and a great well liked player such as Brett Favre.....

I'll grant you they aren't Love Boat scandalous like the team I cheer for, but classy isn't a word I'd use describing the Pack. Favre maybe, though his annual should I stay or should I go routine is getting a little old.

"Classy" used in a football context is a perfect word for the Green Bay Packers. NFL football isn't about a "classy" afternoon tea party with the Rockefellers...it's about FOOTBALL, hard nosed football and good loyal rooting fans...and to me that's classy!

There are a number of NFL franchises I would call "classy" due to a variety of factors, one of which that has to be included is past history...and the history of the Packers with Lombardi and the rest shouldn't be forgotten, and in case Sagard has forgotten, the Super Bowl winner receives the "Lombardi Trophy"

Please keep this great sportsmanship out of this thread until AFTER the game will ya? There is nothing worse then the I want "A" to happen but if it does not then "B" is good with me too angle. I was brought up to respect the winner in the end but CERTAINLY NOT the opponent before the storm. This just negates all reasons to be a rabid fan for crying out loud. There's been some exceptions, but usually it's been very tough for a wild card team to make it to the Super Bowl. The Giants seem quite motivated though - they've got a shot. In my opinion Favre needs to throw a few interceptions, or the Giants need some other turnovers for them to win this game. If it's an evenly played game, the Packers will win.

And it's a night game to boot. You'd think the NFL would try to schedule games like this in the afternoon, but of course it's all about the money to the NFL and not about scheduling for the optimum time in order for the best game to be played.

This has all the Makings of putting Green Bay back in the Superbowl today. I think Favre is something like 43-5 at home in weather like this. That's bad news for the G-Men.

Here's hoping for a good game that comes down to the wire.

Entertaining game thus far. It's obvious the refs, because of the extreme cold weather, told the head coaches they are gonna "let 'em play" to keep the game moving as fast as possible, and are only going to call obvious, blatant penalties.

You're right - some of the players were trying to take advantage of it and now the refs are tightening up.

Giants seem to be establishing control at this point. Favre starting to press.

Can't say enough about Eli's play. For a guy that has received more than his fair share of criticism, he has been playing at another level this postseason, and better than many more of the more prolific QBs.

I think the Pack is making a mistake not involving Grant more in the playcalling, if nothing else to soften up the Giants D.

That Crosby has been money all year, best rookie kicker I've seen in a long while.

I agree with everything you say, I admit I have been very critical of the Giants as a team more so than Eli and they have proved me wrong thus far.

I could very well see a tough Giants team face my Patriots in the Super Bowl...

Regardless of the outcome, this has been a phenominal game!

    Pack playcalling is absolutely abysmal.
