If you could vote for one player to be in the HOF but probably doesn't deserve it, who would it be?

I'm talking about a player you really liked who had nice stats - a very solid career - but not good enough for HOF consideration.
My vote would be Frank Howard. Hondo was a very solid player with 382 lifetime home runs and played on some good Dodger teams and some terrible Senators teams. Little known fact that he was an All American basketball player in college.

Two time MVP, several WS rings, solid defense, great teammate and person.
And, as far as FAME goes, no one in the history of the game ever had a season procucing more fame. 1961 was so famous, they made a movie about it. The pressure was unbelievable, how dare Maris break the most cherished, popular, famous record in all sports, not just baseball, but all sports. The time setting was quite different back some 46 years ago, no one will ever be under the public eye so greatly, as Roger was.
If the time limit for true fame and accomplishment was one season, Maris would be a Hall lock. A few other very good years, however not quite enough for the Hall.
Reading the initial topic question, saying Rice would actually be a good choice. He is the one guy "you could vote for to be in the HOF...but probably doesn't deserve it." That is the question. Rice is a perfect answer.

I was actually referring to Barry Bonds this time!

Thankfully, it came to the 'Stros attention and they have gone waaaaay out of their way to help a former player.
I can't believe this thread has gone this long without Pete Rose being mentioned yet.
But my vote would have to go to Maris as well.

Hugely underrated. In my opinion his fielding was as good as Brooks Robinson. Although Graig's lifetime Batting Average was 19 points lower than Brooks, Nettles hit 122 more Home Runs. in 8,986 At Bats vs. 10,654 At Bats for Brooks. Their OBP was very similar also.

"The answer was in the Patriots eyes. Gone were the swagger and c0ck sure smirks, replaced by downcast eyes and heads in hands. For his poise and leadership Eli Manning was named the game's MVP. The 2007 Giants were never perfect nor meant to be. They were fighters, scrappers....now they could be called something else, World Champions."
