Paper thin pennies

Is it common to find paper thin pennies.I found 2 of them and they have the obverse and dates and full reverse on them.How does this happen?Thanks and Happy New Years to all

I guess if someone was resourceful enough the could grind down the reverse and obverse of two coins with a CNC lathe. Then join the two resulting pieces back together to make one coin. Just thinking of possible reasons for them to be so thin. I could be totally off base.

I too would like to see pics of them.

I have run across a couple of these cents that are noticeably thinner - with no apparent explanation. I did not retain them, thinking it was merely a planchet variance. May have been wrong.. Cheers, RickO
