I upgraded my set last Sunday and PCGS still has not listed my upgrades.

Hey Ray: I put some updates in Wednesday afternoon and they were in Thursday. Wasn't PCGS having some computer problems late last week ? I would do as Cameron said and re-enter them. Take Care: Ken

    Hey Guys,

I put in an upgrade yesterday around 10 AM EST and it has been posted. I would try again if you havent seen yours updated yet. There is red all over the place, everyone is updating.

Congratulations to Grip for passing me and sending me to 20th place. I have been adding and adding and am still fighting to break back into 19th place again.

    Al (et al):

You added a Kritzman coin (1971-S), right? That's a pretty coin and I think it's a neat pedigree. You can point to that coin and tell others that Kritzman "invented" the concept of FB and that was one of his coins!

And Ray, I am getting a little worried for my son, Bobby (of Bobby's dime collection). You are rapidly gaining on him. The only saving grace he has on his side, beyond a minor upgrade, is that he has a birthday within a month. So I suspect (actually, I know) he'll be getting a coin then, most likely a dime. Maybe if I point out how you are breathing down his neck, he'll decide to spend some of his money on coins. That would be a VERY good outcome!!

Vicious and Friendly Competition was brought out by MR.Weinman within this group of Collectors. Wonder what he is thinking about his Little Lady now. Was really glad to see Al's 17S hit the Registry. Sure was hoping one of us could snag a Kritzman Coin. My bid got Blown out of the Water "BIG Time". Al that 27D you put in is way neat also. On to Ray. Have been looking Everywhere for the 44D in 67NB. As you stated before,It Does Not Exist. Will keep looking though. Don: Those were not planned upgrades. Saw the 31P and just had to have it. Pretty coin in person. My 29S quest on eBay has ended. Coin is Bid Up way to high for me. Has anyone noticed that some of the Mercs on eBay are going for real good money? Just finished setting up a eBay store to sell stuff on. Going to try it for a month. If it doesn't work all thats lost is a few hours setting it up. Talk to you all later. Elsie's Bust Rules: Ken

    Don:

Ironically, I have my eye on an upgrade for my 28-P, after which my son's birthday present coin will consist of my old 28-P. You see, I think I can sell my wife on this two-birds-for-the-price-of-one strategy.

Don What would you be asking for that lowly 64Fb 28P.

Hello...it has been quite a while since I have been at collectorsuniverse.com.

Just added yet another PCGS MS-67 FB merc to my set but I have never bothered registering it with the registry set.

Actually the mercury dime I added was the Kritzman 1945-S micro-s PCGS MS-67 FB dime that I had won at the recent Heritage auction.

I am not trying to do a complete set in MS-67 fb as I was trying to do only what I considered to be some of the keys.

I have a NGC graded 1916-D MS-67 fb graded by NGC a LONG time ago when NGC was as tough as PCGS in merc grading. Also a 1942/1 PCGS MS-65 NON-fb (90% split) in the old green insert. Also a 1945-P PCGS MS-62 fb (off center strike) PCGS MS-65 fb, and NGC MS-67 fb also graded eons ago by NGC. The old NGC slabbed mercs look fabulous.

I have a few common dates in PCGS MS-67 fb as well but aside from the new 1945-S micro s I have done little to add to the set. It was just supposed to be a type set.

My favorite date as you all can surmise is the 1945-P. In time, I believe it will be the king of the set.

oreville: Welcome. You should drop by and post to the Threads often. As you can probably tell there is much Friendly Competition and General Ribbing that goes on between this group of Collectors. This is a GREAT Group of people and I say that with No reservations. Adolphs Lady Rules: Ken. Hey Guys, thats 2 new people this week.image

The more the merrier, even if I never get back into 19th place again. FYI, I have given up temporarily on getting a 67 No Bands 44-D and picked up a 66. I will upgrade some day in the future.

This is an amazing group, and continues growing. Who knew there would be so many active Mercury collectors. You would think one of the other sets would be like this, but I am very happy to trail in the dust ... but my little collection is ever growing. The turtle has 3 more and that will be it for a while. Maybe I will get an MS63 out of my submissions, but I am guessing AU cleaned. Oh well... so it goes.

  • Welcome, Oreville. That is quite the set you have, registered or not! That '45 micro s is one Suuuper cool coin. imageimageimage
I'm sure most of us here would agree that you have one NICE "Type" set!!! image

    Mark,
I love your strategy. You should be able to work that one a few times a year! I think I'll start a set of Standin' Libs for our dogs! At least they can make the top 10!!! LOL!

    DeepCoin,
I agree, 'cept "Winged Liberties" leave no dust! image
Good luck with your submissions. image

    Ray,
If you're interested, I'll sell it to you for $75.00(grey sheet bid) delivered.
The coin is very white with just the slightest golden hue, and nice luster. I bought it raw, years ago, and had it slabbed about two years ago. I think that it's high-end for the grade, as it's replacement isn't that much better (and I paid grey bid for it). I would gladly put it back in my hoard and return your $ if you were not satisfied.
I suppose the board will let us know if this is a fair deal! image

Don: Fair Price by me. But of course I just paid $166.00 for a MS64FB PCGS MERC. Said I would not go that high but the Fever got to me. Told Aaron at the first of his auction that I was going to buy it so I had to keep my word. Ouch !!!!!! $46.00 over Gray ask. Ouch....Ouch....,Ouch !!!image Been a Bad Week all around. See You Guys Next Week: Ken

Thanks for some of the responses. ......How do you find this thread when checking back in?/

I was an oldtimer at coinuniverse.com going back to......1996!! We had a live chat room at that time and there were 10 of us then. Earlycopper, amwldcoin, myself as oreville and so I have been registered witrh coinuniverse since 1996. Why does it show me as a "new member?"

I have collected coins since 1960 when I was 7 years old. I have been slowly assembling a U.S. type set from the 18th century coins forward. Nothing less than MS-65. But I get so easily distracted that I end up with a little of everything.

I hope someday to have the #1 $20 Double Eagle type set around. That is what is keeping me away from the mercs I like so much. I like everyone else loves to look through junk boxes and find nice AU mercs and even some BU mercs from a box of silder rolls that were broken up. I spent 3 hours in Baltimore cherrypicking 15 BU mercs some FB from a box at $3 each. I had a ball.

The part I do not understand about having a registry set is why advertise that you want such and such a set until it is completed? That is alerting everyone as to what you need to upgrade your set and the seller then holds out a little longer ($$).

    Just a little ruminating.

    Thanks for listening.

Hope to see you back again.

    Thanks Ray

    Hey Ken,
You paid 166 for a 29S I saw the auction And was going to bid on that one till I saw you were bidding.
That coin is in an old holder and if it looks as good in person as the scan shows that coin has an upgrade chance. So 50 over sheet is not a bad price. I hope it will upgrade.
Let us know when you get it what you think.

Ray: Bought the 29S from Aaron who is a Forumn Member and Registry Set Member. He Always has some very nice stuff up for Auction with Accurate Descriptions. If Aaron does not like the dime he will tell you. He is recommended for sure from me. Could Not resist and put it in the Registry already. Please don't slam me,the temptation was just to great.image oreville: You don't have to find this certain Thread, usually on about every Thursday or Friday one of the Guys will start a new Thread for conversation and gentle ribbing. You will be able to tell its a Merc Dime thread. Take Care: Ken
  • Hey Ken,
Who me slam you never. LOL.
I can't blame you for putting it your set that soon. I think I would have done the same.
I know Arron I also have delt with him a few times and he is very upfront with his coins.
I also would highly recommend him.

    Ok I updated my profile.

By the way, I misstated something earler. I never registered any of my coins into a registry set as I find the concept so foreign to me except if I was thinking of selling it.

Do you guys look at other threads? I never sawe so many darned threads!!

I guess I now have to take up neddlepoint as well??

  • Oreville,
You are sure right about threads you could read for hours.
    We do check other threads.
Once you read them it is easy to keep up with the threads you like to read.

    Have Fun.
