Blue Ribbon on Lincolns

Will the use of Blue Ribbon or Olive oil on higher grade circ Lincolns earn a BB from PCGS or is it acceptable to do so? Thanks, Bill.

Not good to use any form of vegetable oil. Mineral oil is fine, though. I don't believe Blue Ribbon is a downer for PCGS. It wasn't in years past, not sure now, though.

Just be sure to use it lightly, and to remove the excess, to avoid that 'greasy' look.
They slabbed an 1872 IHC as an AU50 for me last year, that I used Blue Ribbon on, to remove some haze and light PVC.

I use BR on a lot of copper stuff (a lot of the copper medals that I collect are stored in PVC flips for years before I see them). I blot as much as I can off with a lint-free towel. I then use a squirt bottle of acetone and give the coin a quick rinse which removes any remaining BR to avoid the greasy look.
