Taking nominations for Thread of the Year™

This forum is one of the best numismatic resources on the Internet. We have numismatic luminaries, experienced collectors, wisecracking Alts, and new collectors who provide a fresh perspective. This place is often educational and nearly always entertaining. As 2007 comes to a close, I thought it would be fun to recall the threads that deserve special recognition. (We didn't have a vote last year because the organizer became, well . . . indisposed.)
Let's have two categories for nominations: Educational Threads and Entertaining Threads (the same thread can be nominated for both categories). Please nominate one or more threads, provide links to the thread(s), and specify the category for which you're making each nomination. A top-secret panel of wise men -- which will not include me -- will convene in a virtual smoke-filled room to narrow the nominations down to 10 per category to make a poll more feasible. The nominations will close at midnight (EST) on December 31, and I'll post a poll for each category on New Year's Day.
Edited to Add: Poofed threads are ineligible. Sorry. But existing threads by poofed posters are in the running.

A great story, with great pics of lots of coins his grandfather had acquired back in the day. The two threads allowed lots of forumites to live vicariously through Darth and his extended family.
<< <i>My nomination for the most entertaining thread is Darth5oh's "Recently Acquired Coin Collection" and its sequel which were posted in the beginning of and the middle of 2007.

I also agree, it was the BEST thread I've ever read: fun, interesting, suspenseful, controversial (remember the nay sayers?)
Awww......you're no fun!

This story was the only one to really make the hairs on my neck stand up!
Most educational has got to be:
<< <i>LeeG's Classic Commemoratives History Lessons >>
various possible categories such as:
1. Best Coin related subject
2. Best Humor
3 Best coin related prediction
4. Best economic prognostication
5. Best human interest
6. Best single line
7. Best grammar and spelling
8. Wurst grama and spelink
9. Most articulate and suave article or comment
Camelot
The other thread that some folks are supporting–the guy who inherited his granddad’s collection–has a human interest element, but does not really have much educational value. And frankly, the collection, while neat in the sense that it was original material from the 1930's and 40's, did not contain any rare coins. In some respect, a neater thread is the more recent one from the fellow who found a proof pattern trade dollar among more mundane material left by his grandfather.

Lee has has contributed greatly to this board and would be the 1st. to tell you how much he learned from all the others on the board.
He's just a stand up fella like the majority of members on the board.
Thanks Lee and special thanks to all those who made LeeG's path a tad easier by sharing your knowledge, questions and answers. You all sure helped me. jws

Yes.
For 2007, Lee's Commemorative threads, line for line, contain more historical data and are the result of more research than any other threads, IMHO.
Those threads are very valuable assets for the the whole forum community.

I reread the post about Lot 403. Doing so caused me to change my mind from the "Recently Acquired Collection" being the Thread of the Year, to Lot 403 being the Thread of the Year. Both are similar (a collection put together by a member of the WWII generation), yet the story of the Lincoln Cent collection really has tremendous impact and appeal.
