I'm sick and tired of all these women.

Those 1st Spouse coins have got to go. I don't think we are going to see a halfway cute one for another 6 or 7 years, if we are lucky. Besides, with the President Dollar varieties already in chaos and the Sacagawea going chic, I've got to drop something, and it's the gals.

In doing so I am fully convinced that they will be worth millions because no one will buy them and they'll see like pop 5. Don't believe me? Go online and checkout some of these wives, I mean whoa! Not that those knuckleheads are any better but they don't cost $500 to spend time with. Sounds a little lewd if you ask me, I mean is this akin to solicitation?

So is anyone else tired of these ladies yet or is it just me? If you could care less, think they are stupid or have a general dislike for moderns then you need not reply. I already feel bad enough.

Anyway, Merry Christmas to all and I hope everyone is healthy, safe and enjoying the holidays. Just remember, coins don’t take holidays.

I was kind of getting the same feelling of the Pres. Dollars just realized that I have a whole page in the inventory mode of just 2007 Dollars coins and I have not even got any of the James Madison's P,D, A or B First days dumped coins yet.
Wonder if I can get face value out of them on eBay if I started my auctions at .01c?

As far as bullion goes, I think they're pretty cool.

    Fortunately, I don't collect bullion.

I doubt they'll ever get much market appreciation. It is hard enough to get many interested in them now out of the gate. Of course, that often can be taken to suggest an astute buying opportunity. However, I don't think a significant collector base will ever develop in the series. Like everything, it comes down to supply and demand. With ho-hum interest now, I don't think interest will pick up. There will be no attenuation in the populations over the years nor issues with wear or significant mishandling. That is my opinion and it as well as the opposing opinions and everything in between is speculative. I see them as MInt medals that will be yawned at in time like Franklin Mint products are today. But the history of NCLT is a very short on for the hobby so any claims one way or the other has not historical support. The speculation is similar to that in penny stocks except that you at least have bullion.

Those with thin skin around here always assume this is modern hatred and it definitely is not. Collect it if you like. But claims of future appreciation deserve peer review and intelligent folks value qualified (by rational arguments and facts) opinions whether they agree with them or not. That's how science works and all humans, by our reasoning nature, are inclined toward genuine scientific discourse. In that respect, rather than dismiss my opinion, convince me otherwise rationally as my opinion is always subject to revision.

I do not think these will become 'hot' at anytime in the foreseeable future.... or in a few lifetimes. JMHO... but they just are not desirable in any venue of serious collecting. Cheers, RickO

    Coxe, I agree with you.

I see this series as one that will generate wide swings between enthusiasm and disdain. The series would have done much, much better in Silver than in Gold. Bad move, on the Mint's part. It's just like the government to turn things around and make Presidents in brass and their Spouses in gold!

The justification for this series is much like the justification for Plats or AGEs when I first decided to get into them. If you are inclined to buy Gold Bullion anyway, and want an interesting diversion for not alot of premium, then this is the series for you.

I would only participate in this series if I was going to buy the gold anyway over a period of time as a way to "average in" on the price of gold. Inflation will bail you out, just as it will bail out us Plat lovers. And over time, if you stick to the commitment, there will be some winners, as in most series.

The problem for this particular series is that the competition includes AGEs, Buffaloes, and Plats. Bummer.

my initial thought was to watch the releases and buy based on design, numbers struck an grade pops only when bullion prices drop way, way back. nothing has changed my mind.

I bought a pair of these as pretty bullion in fancy boxes, and because I collect real coins dated 1801-1809.

Though I like Jefferson, I don't care much for the reverse.

I think the other coin-shaped ones will be popular, as will the Jackie Kennedy one for a different reason.

The others will be interesting. Everybody's got "Jackie Robinson" on their mind with these lesser known spouses... so we'll see.

edit, Oh Yeah, Merry Christmas! image

I view the Presidential and First Spouse Programs with as much enthusiasm as 2001 Kennedy Halves. They are there for the buying - but why would anyone want to?
