Wife got me for X-mas...

this beautiful 20c piece for my empty 7070 hole. Although I actually picked it out, just like she did with her bracelett, it is my gift from her. Any thoughts on originality/grade?

  • A very pleasing, 100% original VF30/35
  • Thanks golden eye. I have seen worse details than this in 40 plastic. I wonder if this is a big "market grade" type coin. Just seems like all the F15 ones I see in plastic look like VG, and all the EF's look like VF's. Maybe just my imagination.

    I'd g 35-40. Fairly original looking.

Twenty Centers seam to be on the rough side for the grade. Try to find an attractive MS63..... most are dogs. If they were Morgans and loojed like that they would be 62 or 61.

sweet coin gecko!! very original.....also, you mention there being some 'market grading' going on in the 20c series and i wholeheartedly agree......20c are the only coins in the seated family that have LIBERTY on the shield raised and not incuse.....as you can imagine this throws the old Photograde rules of LIB letters showing out the window......your coin looks very original and with uniform wear.....uniform wear is important to me.....see the pics below of a 20c'er i had up until recently....its a 75-cc that ICG labeled as a VF30 (ICG is known for being tough on circulated classics).....i never liked the way that the right facing wing showed VG type wear......by contrast yours is very nice

my wife just gave me back the 10th plat set.....now I REALLY have two sets!....i was paying for both anyway ~ i'm just glad to have still have my wife.image
  • Thanks Greg. You are right about Liberty. I see alot of 20c coins in my local shops, and none have full liberty. Even the worst coin costs almost $100. On this type, I figure i'd rather have one coin with details like this one, than 2 coins that are almost smooth. Im pretty happy with my gift. It will fill the physical hole in my 7070, although I do have a '75-S in PCGS 50. Happy holidays!
