When I first started flying for FedEx we had 2 million packages at peak. This year was 11 million. Expansion at Memphis has been collosal. But, like with any company that gets huge service failures happen and will. One would be surprised the ripple effect of an aircraft down for maintenance in LA can effect service in South Bend. Add an ice storm and everything goes to...

I can understand the Op's frustration...been there too.

Not a disagreement but a clarification, the Post Office has not been Civil Service since 1984. Mike >>

True. They are a government owned corporation. They don't work under the same rules as the civil service employees. >>

picky picky image they still take the Civil Service test to get the job, don't they?.. they can't be fired, can they?.. their Supers can just make life such Hell for them that they quit.. next time you see your local mailmenwomenpersonsentities driving around your neighborhood in their white vans or jeeps doing their route, take a look at the back of the truck.. take a careful look.. see if you notice anything missing.. okay, you don't have to look, i'll tell you.. there's no license plate.. not like cop cars or other city / county / state / gubmint-owned vehicles that have a license plate with an "E" in a diamond (at least in Calif.).. meaning "exempt" (from license fees).. mail delivery trucks have no license plates at all.. explain that.. i suppose i could look it up but it's a Holiday and i'm too tired from last night.. took my sealed Platinum set out for dinner and a movie.. then brought her home, popped open a bottle of Dom, and after a few glasses.. well.. it was good for both of us..
    {{lighting cigarette}}..

My friend, the answer is NO. They don't take a Civil Service test, they don't even require a High School diploma. All that's needed today for employment is a Green Card. No plate on vehicles, they are 'self-insured'. You too can do away with insurance premiums by going self-insured. You will have to get a plate though. Mike

I had a similar experience - been sitting on the truck locally since the 22nd, still not delivered. (Xmas gifts, not plats)
