I've never, but I definitely have some goals for the coming year.

-2008 A&G master set (finish off the last little bit of my 2007 set)
-100% Frank Thomas Rookie/Minor League PSA 10 collection (currently at around 50%, 75% if you include some of my 9s I hope to bump)
    -50% raw N9-10 set
-25% on a PSA 6 or better pre-war set (to be determined, preferably 100 cards or less)
-just get a start on a mid-grade Topps HoF rookie set

I'm also thinking of starting a new player collection of Bob Clemente. Realistically, I don't know where my priorities will lie, but I've narrowed it down to these.

    Hobby wise I am assuming?

    - Finish my 1948 Leaf football PSA 3-5 set (currently at 40% of the 98 card set).

    - Get to at least 75% on my 1950 Bowman football PSA 5+ set (currently at ~33% of the 144 card set).

    - Pick up the last 2 GAI authenticated autographed mini helmets for my top 25 all-time NFL rushers collection (need Warrick Dunn & Fred Taylor).

    - Pick up a WLAF official football to finish off my game ball collection.

The only other set I am working on is a beater 1935 National Chicle PSA set, but singles are few and far between so I have no goal in mind for that one. I am thinking of starting a 1955 Topps AA PSA 5+ if I can polish off some of the above.

    Snorto~

Not necessarily one of my favorite players but I love his cards for some reason. His last card (1973) is a classic in my opinion.

  • My main goal is to complete the 2008 Heritage set, and finish up the 2003, 2004, and 2005 Heritage sets I've been working on. I'm only about 200 cards from finishing them up, so maybe, just maybe...

After that I've decided to try a new tactic on collecting the Topps sets I don't currently own: Only buy the ones from that 'end year', for example in 2008 I'll get 2008 and 1998, I already have 1988, and look into 1978. That way, I'm not running around in every direction buying up sets from 1996-2006 and prior to 1980 that I don't have. If I run across one at a great price, I'll grab, but otherwise I'll wait.

Other than that, I plan on squeezing in winning the lottery. image

  • Well I would like to finish off my mid grade Richie Ashburn set though it is all of the high dollar cards which I need that do not pop up on Ebay all the time or at my local shows.

Also I have just started with a 1970 Topps Basketball set, which I would like to get to 25% by year end in in PSA 6 minimum. I have always liked the Tall Boy sets and figured it was a good time to begin building one.

Continue to build my 500 HR Autograph collection (currently at 50%).

Build 1 complete 2008 Baseball set (probably Topps Heritage).... this goes with another goal of staying focused, as 2007 was my first year getting big time back into the hobby in about 10 years, and looking back I was all over the place in my buying habits.

The answer given is absolutely correct! image

To finish off the sets that I'm working on and to upgrade some others. Plus, with the NFL HOF set on the horizon for me, I need the funds for sure!

As far as when....it's available now for the right price. I think the SMR is around $11,500 or so, but I'm taking offers. I've got one offer from someone that seemed serious, but it's been a little while and I'll put it out there again. Just drop me a PM or e-mail me at SCMAuctions@aol.com. image

To continue building on my PSA top 30 HOFer and Superstars subsets from 1956-1985. Right now I have finished off 1959, 1969-1980, 1983-1984.

Here is what I would like to get this year:

1956 5/30 I may get to around 10 or so this year. I have Berra, Ted Williams, Feller, Doby and Roberts in PSA 5.

1957 1/30 I will probably not do too much with this set next year.

1958 4/30 I would like to maybe get up to around 10 next year. I have Fox, Banks, Snider and Spahn.

1960 1/30 Probably won't work on this one too much next year.

    1961 29/30 I just need Hank Aaron in a PSA 6.

1962 11/30 I would like to atleast get up to around 18 or so. I already have the Mantle.

1963 16/30 I would like to finish in 2008. The only real big ones I need is Aaron, Killebrew and Clemente in a PSA 6. As I stated in a previous thread I will not get the Rose because I can't justify spending $400 or $500 on such an ugly card.

1964 24/30 I would like to finish in 2008. I still need Berra, Clemente, Gibson, Aaron, Niekro and Robin Roberts. I am looking for PSA 6's, I will take a 7 on all but Clemente or Aaron.

1965 4/30 I won't do much with this set this year.

1966 24/30 I would like to finish it, but it is lower on my list. I still need the Mays, Mantle, Jenkins, Sutton, Aaron and McCovey.

1967 27/30 I would like to finish this set too, but still need the big three Seaver, Carew and Robinson. More realistically, I will try to get 2 of 3 of them. I will end up getting the Seaver in a nice PSA 5.

1968 29/30 Just need the Ryan. I am also looking for a nice PSA 5. I will finish it this year.

1981 28/30 Just need Stargell and Niekro in PSA 8 or 9. I will buy them as soon as I find them.

1982 26/30 Just need Fisk, Yaz, Murray and the regular issue Ripken (I have the traded). Will also buy an 8 or 9.

1985 29/30 Just need Joe Morgan in a PSA 9 only.

    I will be pleased if I can finish 1961, 1963, 1964, 1967 and 1968 this year.

I've decided that I'm going to attempt to better, My 1983 and 84 Topps baseball sets . I'm doing well in both . There are also some great guys in there ( Eric Miller , Andy Sharp, John McDaniel and Jared Kreamer , all who make it fun .)

I'm going to drop and sell my 50's and 60's baseball sets as well as my Seaver set. I still plan on keeping my other "goofy " players set, as there is no one in their right mind that would seriously collect them.

I plan on starting the 1955 Bowman Football set and try my hand at the great T-206's.

I want to try to leave our 5 sons, something good from dad.

  • To try to get to 10% in at least 2 of the sets I have started (68-79 Topps FB) These are fun and it will be a long term build. Really want to do another vintage football set. Just not sure what to shoot for. Everything I am doing now is in PSA 8 or above. At this point while in school don't have a lot of funds to spare but what would be a really good vintage set that I could build in a lower PSA grade that would still hold value?

To get to 30% Completion on my 1967 Topps Baseball Set - Currently at 9.36%

Get to 50% completion on my raw 1968 & 1969 Topps Baseball Sets.

  • Get more focused.

    My two big focuses are...

-76-92/93. I'd call it my "improved" childhood collection. Buying things that I had but sold. Buying things I couldn't afford. Buying things that have come way down in price.

I keep refining it down, I think my goal is to get what I would have wanted by the end of 93, 94.

Some 92/93 basketball subsets, beam team, hoops draft pick would be cool. The NBA is down from where it was, but at least there hasnt been a steroid scandal to tarnish Shaq, or other early 90's players. The Total D set would be cool. There's some neat sets.

There's alot of 80's packs and boxes I still want to crack. Late 70's football. Would like to get a nice Payton and Largent rookie.

-Then vintage. Have to get into a Goudey set (or at least team sets)eventually.

I don't think I'll be buying much post 94 (esp baseball). Then there's garbage pail kids (sets 1-12), transformers G1, and 80's GI Joe's I'm working on.
