Every business is call always has the same recording, all calls recorded for training and the options have changed. Do they ever finish training?
Sorry, I do not buy AMEX telling the credit card customer claim a blatant lie. Sounds dumb on their part and all you are talking to is a customer rep. The customer rep could care less wether you pay your bill or not.

<< <i>I have since discovered that if I mail an item using Registered Mail, the USPS will ONLY track using the barcode on the Regisitered Mail red sticker and not the one on PayPal's preprinted mailing label. >>
You don't pre-print registered labels. Registered shipping has to be purchased at a USPS counter and at that time it receives only one tracking number, the one on the red registered label that matches the one printed on your receipt and on your copy of the white Form 3806.
Repetition of ignorance is ignorance raised to the power two.
You should try to recover your remaining loss under your dealer's coverage, assuming you carry some. While they'll likely claim you are not covered, they may still extend you a partial payment as a form of goodwill to keep you as a customer, as I've seen insurers occasionally do in the past.
I remember this thread. It sent chills up my back.
The svdb wasn't legally his to resell. Could a claw back be in order?
If a person commits a criminal act and offers partial restitution before charges are brought does that actually bring the matter into the civil side? Anybody know?

He didn't say anything about printing a registered label. Even if you intend to send a package by registered mail you can still print a shipping label thru PP or eBay shipping or thru Click n Ship, all of which will generate a tracking number. To complete the process you need to present the package at a USPS service window at which time you will pay the extra fee and get yet another unique tracking number. Most likely the registered number will be used for future tracking, but since even registered tracking is routinely available online it's a moot point. You would want to go to eBay and add a tracking number.

Not trying to be snarky.
If you have a pencil and paper, you might be able to connect a few dots.
Board member IraS4 aka Ira was defrauded out of a coin he sold through eBay in 2005. The buyer filed a chargeback thru his CC company. I don't recall why the buyer complained about the coin. The coin was a 1909-S VDB Lincoln cent PCGS ms65rd and the buyer resided in Arkansas. The recent thread about the stolen coin from DJF coins has similarities. The buyer bought thru eBay and filed a chargeback thru his CC company. The coin was a 1909-S VDB Lincoln cent PCGS ms65rb and the buyer is residing in Georgia. It's quite possible that the thief is the same person in both cases and if not caught will likely try to screw someone else in the future.
Ira is still selling on eBay. I'm sure he probably wrote the loss off long ago. If DJF could show that the same person was involved in both cases he might be able to appeal the CC decision [or bring legal action against the CC company]
