I'd really like one of these coin cabinets. But unfortunately the seller can't ship to North America. image

Anyone ever see them in stores or on ePay?

  • What would you fill it with? Doesnt seem very secure. See thread on the guy who just lost a $200,000 collection. Or do you want it more as an office decoration kind of deal?
  • This guy has something similar in the US

These are cool and I'd like to have one...but I'd want one from the late 19th or early 20th century as simply a conversation piece or a nice piece of furniture. I don't see actually storing any coins in it.
  • ePay UK usually gas 5-10 in their coin supplys section - none volunteer to ship out of England - but if you ask the seller, may find one willing to ship overseas

The beautiful pieces of worth themselves but I'd be very uncomfortable keeping coins in them at home.

The Ancient collection that I am working on.

I doubt it will ever get close to $200k, hell if it gets to $2k I'd be suprised.

That cabinet is just too cool.

seems slabbing has ruined the coin cabinet as a storage device
or is it designed now days to hold raw and slabbed?

i always thought albums were neat. does it allow storing of them too?
  • That is an awesome cabinet- what a cool item! I'd definitely keep coins in it- low grade stuff, my collection of bodybags, etc. The good stuff has to go into the SDB.

hmmm.. if there is a market, I have a lot of cherry and maple laying around (300+ bf), maybe I'll try and see what I can create!

A piece like that though, with all those drawers, would take some time, the price would be accordingly so. Off the cuff, If I made a piece like that, I would probably sell it for around $500.

  • Great piece of furniture. If I had that I would have had all of my coins stolen, not just half. Listen to the other members on the board. Don't put valuable coins in there. You might pay for it big time. Steve

Very nice, but, 2 words: cabinet friction

I have seen cabinets designed to hold slabs, and they make for an attractive display. Unfortunately, they are not compatible with coin security in most cases - unless your cabinet fits into your safe.
  • it seems that for the most part- those that have the high end coins- keep them in a SDB- thus it would probably be better to have photos of your coins and then just hang them on the wall to look at.

Or buy/make this very nice piece of furniture to store them in, create a room/area that you can stash it back into when your done looking at them- kind of like a closet that you can lock up.

and that is what I did in my house- a small closet that holds everything that I want to view at anytime- the door is solid- so the guy with a pic axe will spend a long time tryin to get thru it- but the hallway to the closet will not allow the potential crook to swing the axe- so he is screwed there, and it is a real bummer because the ADT alarm system to my house, well several of the local PD know me (friends for a very long time) and 2 live on the block- we have a VERY safe hood, and my dogs bite at the ankles first- then they go after that spayshul place....

This cabinet looks nice- I'll have to find more pictures of it and make a replica and sell em.

I have cherry and african mahogany- this can be a weekend hobby!
