Why would we got upset that they are making Territory Quarters..... they are under our control and are therefore technically "states" for all in intent and purposes. It's just one extra page to add to the Quarters album, more for me to colllect!

  • A silly question IMO. Especially since they will be readily available in circulation. If it was some sort of territorial platinum issue, I could better appreciate the question.

I will not collect them, but it certainly isn't a "boycott". I do not collect most of the current issues. The state quarters were interesting. I will stop when we get to the last state (Hawaii)

I only hope PCGS knows what a state is for the registry, and does not add a year there.

I agree with you guys but there were other threads discussing these new coins and several forum members didn't like the idea of this new series.

I see the potential for some nice and maybe even exotic designs for some of the territories.

They should finnaly allow bare titties for the Pacific protectorates.

That would be cool, but im sure they would just cover them up with chainmail the following year.

I didn't look at the other thread, but why are people so outraged about this?

Actually there were a couple of threads. Some said it was a waste of government money. Other said that they shouldn't have a quarter since they weren't states. etc.

Aren't these coins incredibly profitable for the government?

  • Heck! I've been boycotting all Quarters, why begin there?

They should call this a separate series from the Statehood Quarter Program, since they are not officially states.

I think that there is an extras row in my wife's quarter book. SHe will want to get the extra year if it happens.

  • I have to quit collecting quarters. Back in 2000, I bought a wood collectors board at a craft show. There is no room for any more quartrers. But it looks good on the wall. Steve
  • If one has to have a Politicaly Correct collection of Statehood Quarters it would not be wise not to collect the last remaining issues. The minority voices have made their point and political correctness has entered the world of coins...

I hereby declare that being a bonafide coin collector in good standing,
I will absolutely NOT boycott the upcoming DC/territories Quarters.
I may actually acquire them in huge quantity!image

If my son wants to get them, fine. If not, I won't bother doing what I do right now (go to the bank and get a couple rolls of each issue and place a coin in the set with him). I think it is BS and it doesn't interest me.
I also feel the same about commemoratives coming up lately.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

This may be that rare circumstance where a couple of carbon spots, if they're at the right locations, can actually increase the value of the coin.

I'll probably collect the territories separately.

These should be clearly differentiated from the states issues not
only in the registry and albums but also in design. Including E
Pluribus Unum in the design would serve to cheapen the states
program and the concept of a state itself. It would be the final
nail in the concept of states' rights.

I'm looking forward to the new designs.

I seem to recall a prototype (Carr Fecit?) for Puerto Rico, that featured one of the watchtowers of El Moro. Very nice.

I will get them. I only collect the silver proof sets & I figure I've made enough on the first one to get the whole set.

I might collect them but no more quarter slabs. From now on it is just Dansco.

Who knew 10 years worth of quarters could take up so much space. image
