Picked this one up at the local watering hole. Grade?
Also, does anyone have any suggestions on shooting gold? It looks like I need more even lighting... and something to filter out all the damned hits. Egads! Gold is just too dang soft...

As for grade, I'm about 62

It looks like there's something going on with the mintmark, but rather than definitive tripling, it just looks like an amorphous blob. It's not as clearly struck as one would expect.
As far as the grade, quite a few folks nailed it. Green-label PCI MS61. I always like when old PCI stuff shows up locally.

This is an extreme case of PCI being conservative. I think the coin is closer to MS 64.
The left obverse field looks funky as well.
i am going to have to agree. i did not want to guess the grade
because i would be considered an *** for criticizing the coin.
here is a coin i kept that pcgs graded ms61.
feel free to compare. au58 to ms60-61 is all over the place.

I'm trying to spread some cheer. And you are right about the funkiness My bad.
There is some darkness on the cheek that would suggest AU grading. I stand corrected. Thanks for that post, fc. Both of you guys contribute a great deal here.
it is quite stunning due to all the luster. the marks do not bother
me that much personally. i would be very pleased to own it at
the right price.
AU58: $215
MS60: $225
MS62: $325
I paid MS60 money for the piece and am pleased with it for the price. Of course with gold at alltime highs, there are no bargains compared to 5 years ago...

I think it is an AU58 all day long. No sticker, though.
