With the end of the year coming, it'd be nice to have a "reference" of the top stories of the past year.
I'll name a few to begin:
1) CAC
2) Presidential Dollars begin
3) $30 million pattern collection sold
what else you got?

I give away money. I collect money.
I don’t love money . I do love the Lord God.
<< <i>Dwight Manley's gold bar that sat in his gargage until it was stolen and wound up for sale by Kagin..... >>
Or 18 of Barry Stuppler's Morgan dollar rolls out of 133 stolen from his office were recovered... and one arrest within 24 hours of the crime being committed ... that's great police work, I don't care where you live !
Yeah that gold bar was interesting news, too.

PCI is done.
Littleton Founder dies.
Prez dollar, edgelettering Errors!!
“We are deeply committed to the intellectual advancement of our national culture. Our foundation, which is fully funded for the next five years, will be the cornerstone of this historic concept,” said Spears in her lilting British accent during a recent press conference. “We are also honored to announce the founding Board of Trustees shall include: Chief Justice John Roberts, Microsoft’s Bill Gates, Librarian of Congress James Hadley Billington, and distinguished members of the American Historical Association with whom I worked during my doctoral studies.”
Spears, a deeply private individual well known for avoiding publicity and pubic display, much removed from her entertainment persona, had secretly been pursuing a doctorate in Colonial American History at Yale during and immediately following the birth of her two sons. She also revealed her acceptance, beginning with the 2011 academic term, of the endowed George W. Bush throne of excellence at Yale University.
(Although, her “Children’s Welfare and Good Parenting Society” was certainly a bold move, too, as was the program to bring sex education to trailer parks – I think her sister was the guiding light behind that one…?)
We can always dream, right? Reminds me of that line from a Phil Vassar song, "She's got a PhD, and now she modeling for money". Equally fantastic.
Anyway, my nomination for top stories-
* Pistareen opens (somewhat) eponymous firm
* ANS sells current facility
* RWBs "Renaissance" series is completed
* LSCC publishes 100th edition of the Gobrecht Journal
Didn't wanna get me no trade
Never want to be like papa
Working for the boss every night and day
--"Happy", by the Rolling Stones (1972)
I don't think you can put "eponymous" on an award plaque...?
1969-S DDO cherry picked from a BU roll of 69-S cents.
<< <i>Making the top ten has to be when the ANA board went to dinner, broke bread, enjoyed a fine wine and meal, toasted numismatics, and then promptly canned their dinner guest, the ANA Director, immediately after the check was paid. >>
I had a similar post but included the fact that all the ANA governors were voted out of office which I consider to be more significant story. Without a new board of governors, Cippoletti probably would never have been canned. As far a the dinner goes, I wonder if they stuck him with the check?

1) Old regime in ANA booted by membership.
2) Cippoleti gets booted by new ANA regime.
3) Michael Doran actually getting more votes than rivals in ANA election.
4) PCI going down the tubes thank in no part to "Flea-Bay" policies.
5) Michael Doran passing up not one, but two Washington Dollars sans lettered edge as the seller was offering them to him for $25 each!
6) Coin Market hotter than a baked potato.
7) Canadians come up with a gold coin so big that no one can really use it much less afford it (except those from Alberta, Texas, and Abu Dhabi).
8) Currency market on fire (what else is new).
9) Washington DC finally gets its quarter (complete with crooked politicians).
10) Can't really think of anything else!
That All!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i also like the rolls of rare date morgans brought to the vegas show, i.e. the 1893-s roll. how nice that musta looked.... alil greeneyed here.
the "blackswan" discovery.
the 1817/4 capped bust find, the ninth known. how nice.
mint director moy's statments, " to spark a Neo-Renaissance for coin design and achieve a new level of desigh excellence." what a great ambition this man has, trying to bring back something we
certainly lost somewhere. i would for one love to see the nickles origianl reverse design. on maybe a lady liberty nickle. the name jefferson acroos the top of the rev. in a banner. still giving credit to
a great man and a great leader.
the newly found 1787 fugio reverse diefound by stack's. very cool new colonial. makes me think, what else is still out there.
i am sure i can go on about awsome stuff this year but no one would read it all so those i think i will remember for awhile.
not to mention all the new exciting errors out there...
