The rarest would have to be a circulated one.
  • any one without milk spots is rare

I have nearly 200, and none have spots.

That can't be rare . I picked one up at the bank about 3 months ago for a dollar.

There are a few "rouge" MS70s out there 86 (3), 88 (1), 95 (1), 97 (3) and 98 (4), but I have NEVER seen one for sale so they are either broken out of the slabs and not reported or milked up so bad no one would try to sell it. Now there seems to be 4 1996 MS70s so I think they are the winner but I'm not sure why they were even graded since PCGS was only supposed to allow W silver to grade 70. Hmmm. Other than those it goes to the 1987 PR70DCAM with a pop of 12. image My favorite.

  • I have the 2002 with the American flag symbol and a 2004 PCGS ASE Collectors club slabs

Neither one of them have any spots on them at this time.

Really? I currently have a live auction on ebay for a 20 pack of 2006-W pcgs ASE that were graded before PCGS gave a 70 grade....and it's not getting much attention...

Depends on whether or not you are sticking to PCGS grades or open to NGC.
That has a bit of bearing in it, I think image

Same here, though I've got close to 800 that I bought at spot price or less as pure bullion over the years.

None have milk spots, including the slabbed ones.

Just because they were graded before PCGS gave the MS70 grade doesn't mean most people are willing to gamble. If I were interested in buying them, for the gamble, and I read "...these were graded prior to PCGS giving the MS70 grade..." then I would think "hey, he knows what he is talking about and isn't likely to leave large money on the table so it is doubtful these would upgrade. That and the fact that there aren't a ton of them out there...that tells me PCGS isn't giving them out like candy on Halloween.

The term "rare" and "silver eagle" should never be used in the same sentence.

None were ever issued to be"circulated" into commerce as regular coinage. They were only issued for collectability.

I vaguely recall someone trying to get an eagle down to P-01. Did they make it?
