Always took candy from strangers Didn't wanna get me no trade Never want to be like papa Working for the boss every night and day --"Happy", by the Rolling Stones (1972)
In the evening, he sits in an overstuffed chair, in his smoking jacket, in the library of his manse, sipping cognac, all the while doing research for the questions that are to entertain and enlighten us the following day.

That's not too far from the truth, actually. But I don't smoke.

Well...considering all your references to Grateful Dead and Rolling Stones lyrics in your Sig Line...
...is this a matter of "not smoking" or "not inhaling"? ...
Re: Slabbed coins - There are some coins that LIVE within clear plastic and wear their labels with pride... while there are others that HIDE behind scratched plastic and are simply dragged along by a label. Then there are those coins that simply hang out, naked and free
Let us commence the analysis of Longacre.... did he inhale or not?... Is the smoking jacket just a prop? Stay tuned.. details will surely follow. Cheers, RickO
Regarding numismatics, I just finished another chapter of the Comitia Americana book, and I have a few questions in the can for tomorrow morning.

The truth:
In the evening, Longacre sits on a bunk bed, wearing an old college sweatshirt, in a small child's bedroom, with two kids on his lap, while giving the third a bottle of Enfamil, and reading Berenstain Bear and Dr. Seuss books until the children fall asleep. When they finally do and Mrs L has run out of things for him to do, he might, might, MIGHT have enough energy to open a numismatic book and read a few pages while listening to Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, before drifting to sleep.
