There are no less than FIVE 1792 Half Dismes coming to auction with Heritage during the January FUN show. Ranging in grade from VF20 to MS63. Ranging in appearance from original soft silvery to multi color toned. Coins in both PCGS and NGC plastic for collectors of either persuasion.
Although it may have happened before I can't recall this many 1792 H10¢'s coming to market at the same time in the same venue before. At this moment there is actually a very good available inventory of one of the most difficult half dimes to aquire. A coin with a total original mintage of just 1,500 pieces (although admittedly they were a heavily saved coin). This represents a pretty special occasion for those that are financially endowed enough to consider these coins. I'll be watching with earnest to see if all of the coins sell and what prices they bring.
A mini-saturation could possibly have a short term (during this auction only) affect on the price. The prices these half dimes always realize severely limits the number of people in the market for them. It's possible we will see more supply than there is demand during this auction.

<< <i>1972 half disme?...count me in! >>
Edited for the spelling Nazi's.
Edited: can anyone spot me 60 or 70 large?
The last time I checked Heritage's archives, which go back 13 years, they had sold exactly five 1802 half dimes during that 13-year period. We all know 1792 half dismes are difficult to find; this gives some idea how rare the 1802 half dime is.

wow, 5 in one auction! Oh what a joy it would be just to hold one of these.
Hey Clad, maybe you ought to throw out the first bid just to say you bid on one of these before.....a story to tell your kids and grandkids.

Too many positive BST transactions with too many members to list.

Not a bad idea.
was there an 1870-S $3 by any chance?
ha, of course each series has a key but in general most are not!
;0)
it must burn your britches to know that a S minted $3 is really the
key! lol.
keep trying! the truth is coming out slowly. i see new to be released
books are revising their pops.
---- but on topic ----
i could only dream of being able to afford one of the five coins you
mention. drool.
<< <i>I did notice that and the four Stellas, too. I also noticed that there is not a single 1854-D $3 in the sale, which is very unusual. Most FUN and ANA Signature sales have at least one, sometimes two. This is surprising because I keep getting told that southern gold is not rare, readily available on ebay, etc., etc. , and I would think that a sale big enough to accommodate no fewer than five half dismes could cough up at least one 54-D $3? >>
there may very well be one or more 1854-D $3 in the sale, but it is impossible to find anything with Heritage's new "interface"
