I saw that coin last year in person and boy was it a stunner. The $195k pricetag however was not...

really nice coin there.
<< <i>I saw the coin in person a few months ago. While amazingly beautiful and mark-free, it is not by any means a 69. >>
I can clearly see a few hits in this picture which would seem to preclude 69.

If it were a moden Gold Eagle with the same surfaces, I think it would grade MS67 or MS68.
Still a super coin though.

It's much cleaner in hand.
Who is John Galt?

It was being offered at Agustin capital Management's table, so it is probably on consignment from them, or someone else.

<< <i>That's the one that supposedly sold for $145K at Albanese Rare Coins. Is is for sale again? >>
Yes.
<< <i>If it was a true 69, then why wouldn't it be sold already? >>
I don't understand this comment (and others like it that I've read posted about other coins which have been available on dealer sites in the past).
I can't speak to this specific coin (and I won't comment on the grade), but we sometimes have cool stuff sell instantly, or sometimes have it last a few months. Often (but not always) there will be a flurry of interest and inquiries about a coin as soon as it is sold to someone else.
It's a very inefficient market and the person who would buy this coin may not even know that it is on the market.

The $195,000 asking price may have something to do with it.
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.
