RLH Enterprises - Cannot Unsubscribe!

Uggh! They e-mail me all too often.

The e-mail includes an unsubscribe link... you click it and it says it worked, then a few days later the next e-mail arrives.

I reply to their e-mail with unsubscribe, but a few days later the next e-mail arrives.

I go on their web site and use the contact us link, fill out the webmail form to unsubscribe, and I get an error message Warning: mail() [function.mail]: Failed to connect to mailserver at "localhost" port 25, verify your "SMTP" and "smtp_port" setting in php.ini or use ini_set() in D:wwwrootconnect.php on line 216

So what will happen next? Another e-mail will arrive. They do not have an 800 number, and I will not place a toll call from Belgium, so RLH if you are reading this, unsubscribe the e-mail account that ends with @telenet.be!

  • I have the same problem. I just mark them as junk mail and after 10 or more accumulate I delete them.
I would never buy anything from this guy at any price as I want to be no part of keeping him in business. Dave W

Solution: order something on approval using trade references. Sit on them a while and then send them back. That should be the last time you hear from them. Bounce a check on them for the finale.

lol, he might just think you're being friendly (you know, do unto others...) and try to buy from you on approval.

I've heard that those spam emails have the "unsubscribe" button so they know your email is still active. You use that button it tells them you still use that email so they can continue to spam you.

If it's these guys, why don't you send them a message here. And if you don't get satisfaction, PM me with your exact email address - they are just a few miles away and I'll have one of my "collectors" give them a call. image

That guy has "I work in a ripoff boiler room business" all over that picture! image
If I were them, I wouldn't want a picture like that out there, particularly if I was ethical and legit.

  • This won't help you now but just set up a spam trap email address. I am a .Mac user and dotmac lets you have 5 alias email addresses. I use one for filling out online forums and it shows up in your inbox just like it was your regular email. Starts getting too busy and I just delete the account and make another one. Their email to you will then bounce and I NEVER use the account for anything I actually care about so deleting it is never a problem.

  • One more thing. With multiple email spam traps you can tell who is selling your email address. Say you use an email of spamkilla@email.com and you only send it to business X.

When you start getting spam from business Y and Z you know who did you in. Works like a champ.

Glad you added that qualifier at the end of the last sentence, helps explain why that pic IS still out there. image

Well, for starters... refusing to unsubscribe someone who doesn't want your e-mails any more speaks to questionable business ethics.

I have to agree here. The slimeball spammers abuse that button whereas the legit businesses or organizations will honor it.
