I gambled.... and lost PIC ADDED

UtahCoinUtahCoin Posts: 5,354 ✭✭✭✭✭
I spent BIG money on this coin because it looked like it might be a "1 in the Neck" variety. It came today and was not. Obviously the picture shows a cleaned coin with some rim dents, what it doesn't show is that it is also bent. In addition, for $1.79 postage I got it in a regular envelope with a 41 cent stamp.

I'll put it in circulation today.

So, do you have a better picture of the coin that you could show?

Guess it's rice and beans for a few weeks to recover from this one... image

You got to "dream" about what could be for a lot longer than someone who buys a couple of lottery tickets and scratches off two more losers.

You should put it into circulation for some lucky YN to find.

Here's what it really looks like. I guess with a few weeks of rice and beans we should overcome this loss. Of course, we'll have to forgo Christmas gifts for the kids.

  • That probably makes you about the 78th person who has obtained it with the same hope. That mark is a heartbreaker.

Sometimes the big gambles pay off and sometimes they don't. image

Do we need to start a fund for you until you are back on your feet financially?

I am also a member of the One In Neck strikeout club. I though I cherried one on a poor picture on Ebay a few months ago as well. Mine turned out to be a well placed toning spot on a piece of garbage wizzed AU coin.

This is pretty funny. I emailed the seller to let him know that he should have noted that the coin was bent. He offered me a refund (less S&H).

Ouch! The steak knife in neck variety! I actually gambled on a coin last week and won. I paid $2.00 shipping, and when the box arrived, the coin was wrapped in toilet paper and stuffed inside of the cardboard roll. Actual shipping cost was $4.60 so I made $2.60 and have some extra toilet paper to use.
