Other than GavelSnipe, what other snipe programs are decent?

I use GavelSnipe for auctions I'll be away for, other than that, I know of no program that ends closer than 8 seconds. Any ideas or suggestions?

  • I use Auction Sniper...I have been very happy with it...It has an adjustable time...5 secs is where I run mine....but it also has a "feeler" option that can adjust to lag in the eBay server..so your last second bid, DOES get in, and not missed because of eBay lag.

It also has the option of Bid groups, so if you are bidding on several items and want to just win one of them, it will cancel the remaining bid attempts.

www.vrane.com limited to one free snipe at a time; you must wait for one to finish before you can start another tho I have never tried 2 at a time. it usually bids with 7 seconds left.

I use auctionstealer.com -- yes, I pay for the service, but it works for me better than manual sniping and auctionsniper.com did.

i use esnipe and you can set your own snipe time - even with only 1 second left. I personsonally have not tried less then 4 seconds however. Bob

phantombidder goes down to 3 seconds.

    Free trial.

I've used it since I saw it mentioned here a year or so ago.

    Works great.

You only use your snipes if you win and they cost $10/20snipes although they cost less if you buy more.

  • I use Auction Sentry. I can set the bid time, I go with 4 sec. I tried 2 sec once and got a late bid notice. It is "stand alone", NOT a service you have to pay for. Free download and trial snip(s). I think it was $29.00 to buy the registered program. Could have been a little more or less.

If the auction is for something I really want, it's the only way to go. I'll only put an early bid on auctions I don't expect to win, or I get outbid without fail.

  • I use BayGenie Pro, you can set the snipe time to whatever you want. It costs 24.95, then 9.95 per year after. I picked up the Pro version for free.

  • How much time do you really have to leave on the clock to be afraid of someone seeing your bid and outbidding you???

I have been out bid with less than 30 secs left. of course the winner may have been using a snipper when I didn't.

The other advantage of the program is... When I won tonights auction, I was out of the room making a snack. Could have been at work. If I leave my computer on I can be any place, or asleep at auction end.

Your own judgment works best. And to top it off, it's free image

But for those times when you can't make it to the auction when it is about to close, then I think virtually any program is good.

Oh..I use BayGenie to snipe. What I meant was how close to the end of the auction do you really need to snipe. I figure 5-7 seconds is fine to ward off someone else from being able to see they've been outbid and actually act upon it. I use 5 seconds. BayGenie like I'm sure the rest sync their time with eBay's near the end of the auction to ensure the 5 seconds I use is accurate.

Phantombidder is the best deal if you snipe a lot. $9/mo for unlimited snipes. If you use Auctionsniper, Phantombidder pays for itself after only 2 $500 sniipes, as Auctionsniper charges 1% of the final price ($5.00 max).

    Esnipe is what I use.

PS- as far as I know, you can set the buffer time down to one second, though I believe they warn against that, since it might not go.

I have used a 2-second setting before. Can't remember the results.

Usually I set for around 5 seconds- close enough for me. When I lose, it's usually because my max bid was already exceeded by the time snipertime rolls around.

I've used eSnipe for the past couple of years and it's always worked fine for me. I usually set my bid for around 5 seconds to go.

I do it myself... lots of fun.... have sniped with two seconds left.... and won. Never lost an item I wanted. I do not bid on items if I cannot do it myself - i.e. away from computer when it closes. Nothing like the adrenaline rush of sky diving or sniping with single digit seconds to go..image Cheers, RickO

You're assuming that the other bidder(s) are manual. Unfortunately, sometimes you have to outsnipe another snipe program. I use auctionsniper with a 3 sec setting, but I've watched one or two times to see if it really works. My bids were actually placed closer to 7 seconds out, and that's plenty of time for another sniper or fast manual bidder to win it, which is what happened.

I used it the other day and I admit, I like it!

It updates with the latest high bid and pre-populates with the minimum bid you need to enter.

The best part is that it's running on ebay itself and it's free!
