Opinions are welcome! Coin absolutely booms with cartwheel luster.
Edited for extra pictures. I guess the camera doesnt lie?

It's hard to tell by that photo but it appears to have some hairlines on her midsection and between the eagle's wings as well as some rub on her lower right leg and lower gown folds.

<< <i>Would the "light cleaning" be enough to keep this out of a slab? I see hairlined coins in PCGS slabs all the time. >>
Yes. Bodybag material based on pics.
The coin appears to be well struck and thus deserving both FH and FN designations.

Almost looks like she was cold or smoething...
Check out my current listings: https://ebay.com/sch/khunt/m.html?_ipg=200&_sop=12&_rdc=1
Those apear to be slide marks and they're much more lenient on them than other types of lines. Even tho the 1917 quarter usually has matte like surfaces, this coin seems 'off' and is possibly whizzed.
<< <i>Hairlines, but maybe worth a shot... Or wrap it in a Taco Bell napking for a while.

Thats why the modified chainmail came out the next year I bet
Bodybag material, sorry.
<< <i>I was studying whizzed coins just tonight. Since you said the luster "absolutely booms" , I think that the coin has been whizzed. Those light hairlines and the luster is typical of what a whizzed coin looks like.

My immediate thought when seeing that coin was "whizzed". Sorry.

Do the whizzers usually get inside all the letters too? Because there is no change in the color/luster even inside the closed lettering.

<< <i>Might have been a close call before someone decided it needed to be cleaned. Good for a kid's type set now. >>
Of all the thousands of comments I have read so far while a member here, this has to be the most demeaning. Just because some of you have the resources to put MS66 examples of coins like this into your collections does not automatically make this a "kids" coin. In fact, im sure there are plenty of ADULTS who would love to have this coin in their set. Who are you to decide what a kid coin is anyway? I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you may just be tired because it is late. I have seen other posts of yours that were terrific and insightful. But your latest comment was nothing but insulting to say the least.

<< <i>I apologize. I was demeaning the person who wiped the coin not the owner. But is was admittedly unduly harsh. >>
Apology accepted. I'd love to be able to buy a superb gem coin of this type. But, my career path does not compensate me on that level. I certainly love what I do, but the pay isnt the greatest. I paid about $150 for this coin. Thats a decent chunk of cash for me. Probably like spending $15 for alot of the members on this forum though. Judging by the feedback on this coin, I overpaid. I am still learning, and still make mistakes. What really upset me is you calling it a "kids coin". Made me feel like my entire collecting efforts have been some kind of joke. Maybe to a family that makes $200,000 a year, this would be a nice "kids coin", but to me, it was a serious effort at putting this type into my collection.

whizzing does NOT leave hairlines! It leaves an "electric" luster that looks too good to be true!
I buy coins on a teacher's salary, and have made tons of "mistakes". I've got a very pretty 7070 about 3/4 full of them! You can't be too thin-skinned when you ask for opinions on this forum, I've found. Don't take any of it personally.

NHS, I have respect for your profession. You guys literally shape our youngsters. Im a Chicago firefighter. Like I said, it doesnt pay much, but I wouldnt trade it for all the Stellas in the world! And as for the thin skin comment, usually nothing bothers me, but for some reason Coxe's comment really sent an arrow into my heart. I love this hobby! Been passionate about it for just 3 years, but there isnt an hour in the day that goes by without me thinking about coins. Maybe thats why he reached me.
I suspect a wiped AU58. I cannot really discern from the pictures and lighting if there is any rub there or not, but my eye thinks it sees some on parts of the shield and eagle's wingtips. My eye also thought it saw some on Liberty's head, but my brain knows better than to use the head as a diagnostic, because of strike issues.
I wouldn't bet too hard on its fate in a TPG slab, but for something like a raw Dansco album, it would be a fantastic addition.
Slider or BU, wiped or not, that's a sharp coin.

<< <i>Ken, I see no light parellel lines in your whizzed example. Also, comparing the luster of one type of coin to that of another doesnt work. In fact, there are huge luster pattern differences within series of coins, Morgan dollars come to mind. So to say that because the luster pattern on my SLQ doesnt match the luster pattern on my Barber half means the coin has been whizzed just doesnt hold much water. >>
OK, sorry to bother you. Good luck with your collecting.

Dont get me wrong Ken, Im very open to opinions, and ideas. But i'll be the first in line to call a spade a spade, and your explaination just doesnt make sense. Wiped? Yeah probably. Lightly cleaned? Sure. Whizzed? Not a chance. Refer to Frank's post. A whiz job is done to create false luster without leaving behind hairlines. If you whizzed a coin, and left hairlines, whats the point?
