What original problem free coins would you NOT pay greysheet ask?

I know this is a broad question so to simplify, stay within your collecting interests.

My collecting interests ( on the liteside) would include type coins, key date dimes thru $ ( 19th and 20th century) and selected gold in higher grades.

I cannot think of a coin I would not pay ask for.

How about you?

  • I have been told before in the past that the reason sheet is so low, especially on older type coins, is part of a conspiracy that allows dealers to purchase coins from the public at dirt cheap prices. Only on the most common of widgets, such as my 1887 PCGS 64 will you get close to buying at sheet ask. So other than moderns, I agree that there are few, if any, problem free coins that I would not pay sheet ask for.

You must think this market is overvalued? Care to be specific or at least the ones you would buy at ask??

Not really. I just think I can find nice examples of most coins at lower prices than CDN ask.

I aggree with above, many are overpriced even at bid currently. I cant even buy nice problem free coins at 10% back of bid and make a profit becuase they go begging!!!! Not all, but many

    To list a few
    38-d wlh
21 & 28 peace as well as many other later dates.
    Several pre 24 SLQ's
Indian cents in the 70's in VG-VF
Buffalo Nickels in F /VF (However an exception nice XF-au semi better dates are strong)
Lincon cents I cant even find buyers for F-xf coins for dates like teen s, 24-d, 31-s etc, becuase they are all too high

I have bought several nice type coins, and they have been selling at 10-20 % behind sheet on e-bay, even certified. I had a super nice Shield nickel in 58 sell at 71.00 two days ago, I paid 85.00 and thought I would make a few bucks /wrong!

Common circs of anything from 1820's to date. Once you get to slightly better dates things change somewhat.

I'd probably make the same comment for common post 1820 MS/PF coins as well unless they had above average eye appeal.

Better 19th century dates, varieties, and grades often bring full ask or more. Check out the low bids for Flowing Hair halves in Good-XF.
