Based on the pic, looks fake. Based on the listing as a whole, possibly real. Were you the winner? $25 isn't a huge gamble in any case. I don't know what these normally sell for, tho.
I say fake- I see no metal 'flow' into the clip...
You Suck! Awarded 6/2008- 1901-O Micro O Morgan, 8/2008- 1878 VAM-123 Morgan, 9/2022 1888-O VAM-1B3 H8 Morgan | Senior Regional Representative- ANACS Coin Grading. Posted opinions on coins are my own, and are not an official ANACS opinion.
I am not an expert on clips...but all I have learned, and seen, have either the Blakesly effect or some curvature... That is perfectly straight.. or so it appears. I would pass on this one. Cheers, RickO
I still maintain that the pics in the original auction are too lousy to tell much of anything.
TrustNo1 -- On the slabbed pic that you posted, look at the rim between the R in QUARTER and the D in DOLLAR. The rim "flows into" the clip at that point. That's expected, and also pretty much required for a real clip.
You can't see that metal flow in the original auction picture. If the metal flow ain't there, it ain't real. In my opinion, though, you can't "not see" the metal flow either. The pic isn't good enough to tell either way.
I hope the OP won this lot, and is able to post better pics when it arrives...
