for labeling as Anniversary Sets.........
is there enough lost revenue in your P/L to warrant a change in your policy toward these sets?

have time as the sets will not be mailed

I'd agree there is plenty of time, but these will be mailed out before the 31st...
PCGS is the slow moving dinosaur.

Hmm, thanks for posting. What if 2007s were labeled as 11th Anniversary?

Good point. There are no coins to submit at this time.

USA MINT
10th Anniversary
First Strike
Nothing more and not even stating American Eagle Program and instead put up a beautiful hologram version picture of the obverse of the coin (Statute of Liberty).
This way there is a PCGS 10th anniversary and an USA Mint 10th Anniversary.
when your competition beats you to the punch, it only reaks of lost revenue. If they were to get only half the sets, not under bulk structure pricing, it's to the tune of $1.2m.
just how many businesses turn away $1.2m? you cant tell me fiddling with boxes is not worth $1.2m.
The answer is quite clear.
and if you want to get a "leg up" on the guys across the street, be creative, configure a set with 10th Anniv labeling that includes the UNC $50 2007-W PLAT with the same reverse, after all, the gold and silver sets were 3 pc sets........who says you have to go with the USM's definition of 10th Anniv set?
I for one, would rather wait until PCGS makes thier decision, as they would get my sets to grade if they labeled 10th Anniversary.
no sitting back today.........
show PCGS this is what the collecting public wants. It's better than any marketing survey.

That's a great suggestion. I think this should be passed to PCGS! Can we get some constructive emails send to the powers that be?

Its not what the collecting public wants, its what the flippers want so they can jack up the price while claiming these special label coins are worth more then those without. Real collectors only care about the coins not whether there is a fancy label on the slab.
It gives added value to the set and is a benefit
to the collector. If flippers make more money ,
then so be it.

say what you will about labels,
but proof is in the pudding,
FS / Anniv Set labeling adds hundreds to the potential sales price of an item...
and I haven't met a "true collector" yet that is not willing to accept those added $$ when an item is sold.

People generally agree theres money to be made, but disagree about whether that is taking advantage of unsuspecting sheep or not. Whether or not it is good for the hobby is also sometimes questioned.
It seems that just saying "10th Anniversry Set" would work fine, no?

I guess your talking about PCGS. Creating a 10th Anniv. label for a 9th Anniv. coin is certainly taking advantage.
On a different note:
PCGS employees must live in some kind of bizarro world.
When they are born, they are already 1 year old, and when they are celebrating their 10th birthday, the rest of us are celebrating our 9th.
They freak out their parents by sending 10th, 20th, 30th wedding anniversary cards a year before everyone else.
They freak out their spouses by sending 10th, 20th, 30th wedding anniversary cards a year before the spouse is thinking it is happening.
They already voted for the next President because the 8th year/anniversary was last November.
They wonder why no one is at the 10 year High School Reunion.
on the other hand a reverse PR70 will be the only one bringing a premium so i am just going to open it and either send in the RP to pcgs or send the whole caboodle back to the mint.
i cringe at sending to NGC for any modern label.
<< <i>was wondering if you could send the box in to be graded to PCGS and then later if they do decide send the slabbed proof back for special label....they do have records (dates) of when the coin was graded..and submitted and how submitted.

I think the Proof 10th anniversary coin will sell at a premium over the regular Proof half since alot of sets will be opened and become ineligible for the 10th anniversary pedigree on the Proof. Also, just like in the 20th Anniversary gold set, I think the 70 graded Proof population with the anniversary pedigree will be much smaller than the Reverse Proof 70 population and will be the key to those looking for a perfect anniversary set and will sell for a premium over the label without the anniversary pedigree.
There is no rush.
If the sets remained sealed, they can always be sent to NGC if PCGS does not get smart.
However, when you immediately send to NGC for 10th Anniv designation, PCGS will never cross into thier "10th Anniv" holder, if they choose to do such a label.
I knew it would happen.

RR, I couldn't agree with you more. this is what the flippers want!
HOWEVER, the point is that PCGS whats, or should want, to do what the flippers want. I would guess that the flippers make up a big percentage of PCGS's total sales. AND growing much faster then overall collecting.

<< <i>Frankly, if my RPs are worthy, they are going to PCGS. I'd rather have an opinion from PCGS than a label from NGC. >>
I agree!

The only reason we have not seen PCGS' announcement yet on 10th Anniv sets is that they are strongly considering changing course and labeling the coins "10th Anniversary". To that I say - carry on!
A separate issue would be whether the coins might also qualify for "First Strike" despite the limited mintage and limited availability per set, per person. I personally think there is no reason for PCGS to change what they have in place with "First Strike". It is an important piece of intellectual property for the pubic corporation the way I see it (if for no other reason the 20% added premium charged to slab these coins as 'FS").

They're just making it dramatic.
