I would think Pujols started early, maybe even before his call up. His declining numbers might be attributed to this.

edited to add: Again, another guy who would have been great without it though.

Why would you bail? Pujols isn't any better or worse than his peers. I realize you are a lot more emotionally invested in him than most of us, but unless you have been one of the "ultra-extreme" Bonds bashers I don't see why you have to start hating on Pujols or the board.

From the news site that once had the list:

Yeah, now that I think about it, Lenny Dykstra DID seem to just bulk up out of nowhere.

You'd never know with Pujols, though--he must have done it the "right" way that Canseco talked about in his book.

Im very happy not to see Griffey Jr or Thomas on this list....provided this is correct.

When Dykstra was on the Phillies, cant remember who the manager was but there was a story of the manager telling Dykstra to get off the juice cuz he looked like a miniature Hulk.
  • for as bad as the Orioles have been they have a lot of names on there. at least win some games if you are going to cheat

Mitchell's Steroid List Leaked, Disputed By MLB Official

    POSTED: 11:23 am EST December 13, 2007
    UPDATED: 12:20 pm EST December 13, 2007
NEW YORK -- WNBC.com's Jonathan Dienst has obtained names expected to be on George Mitchell's list of baseball players linked to performance-enhancing drugs in major league baseball. Baseball officials are refuting several names on the list.

A high-ranking MLB official said there are several errors in the list provided to WNBC.com by two sources. Our two sources are standing by the preliminary list provided to WNBC.com. Therefore, we are working to clarify the list at this time.

The list contains multple MVP and Cy Young award winners. The list is littered with names of All-Stars past and present.

I figured he was, I was a big fan of his, but I remember his forearms, in paticuliar, getting smaller after this steroid stuff came out.

I found this on another message board. Very interesting read...

    Bagwell
  • Prior and Wood.

The porclein dolls are on the list....no wonder.

Just think...these are only the guys who got caught. When you see one roach...there are many more you cannot see.

  • What is the source of that message board post? It almost reads like an Onion tale. There is a lot of first hand accounts in there. Just curious. I don't disagree much, as every player on that list wouldn't be a surprise...including Gwynn.
  • My takes... glad to see guys like Clemens & Pettite on there... can't stand either of them! I was half-hoping Pay-Rod would show up on it, but no such luck.

A couple of surprises... Paul Byrd, Nomar, Varitek, and the big one... Pujols?!?! I'm really surprised at that since Albert was widely talked about as one of the guys who definately wasn't using them. Is this confirmed list or not? Just doesn't seem right that he's on there.

Wood and Varitek are the only surprises to me. Wood's arm problems come moreso from his awful mechanics...throws across his body. I have to wonder if Biggio dodged a bullet here...he and Bagwell are pretty close and Biggio did have a bit of a power surge.

Byrd was implicated months ago. How was that surprising? You're honestly surprised about Nomar and Pujols? Varitek is the only small surprise to me...

Yeah, cuz we all know that Pettitte is an ahole and a whining baby :::eyeroll:::

Im surprised not to see more catchers on there. With the pounding their knees take I could understand them wanting to take steroids.
  • frankhardyfrankhardy Posts: 8,097 ✭✭✭✭✭
I am wondering about the authenticity of the list. All ESPN is talking about is Clemens and Pettite. They have mentioned "internet lists" and they said that MLB is denying the authenticity of those lists. I can only keep my fingers crossed.

    Shane

  • never heard about Byrd... his surprised me cuz the guy is just fat and out of shape. I guess this proves that some use it to avoid injury rather than to bulk up. Pujols... just kept hearing that he was clean and "did it the right way" so that's why his was a shock.

Hey, I'm not intentionally hating on the Yankees btw... I've hated those 3 well before they became Yankees. And yeah, Pettite is a little whining baby... not sure how you missed that. Just think back to his days as an Astro...

    He publicly admitted it.
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

WHY WOULD ANYONE ASSUME that if a player isn't on the list that they are clean? It means either they are clean or simply they didn't get caught this time around!
