I think PCGS got it right 1997 to 2007 is the 11th year this coin has been produced. The 10th Anniversary was last year although one could argue that the 1st anniversary was in 1998 making 2007 the 10th anniversary. Really it amazes me how many people really care about labels now days and not coins. Oh well to each their ownimage

The use of special labels should be dropped. They need to adopt a single, high security label to combat potential counterfeiting of their slabs. Large numbers of label varieties make it easier for counterfeiters to sneak something past the public.

To me a much more accurate label would be something like Inaugural Year Set" on both coins. After all this is the first year the RP have been done in Platinum and that's much more historic.

It comes down to this... are you a label collector or a coin collector??? Whatever you perceive yourself to be, do it with a passion. (If a label collector - request unused or special labels on the BST.... will probably be much cheaper without the coin.) Cheers, RickO

Well, I'm a coin collector of products produced by the US MINT :&ltimage And if they are offering a 10th Anniversary coin set to commemorate the coins, then I would like my holder to say what it is. This is a limited edition coin set and should be labeled as such.

I don't collect these, but I wouldn't want a special label to be placed on all coins. IMO, it could be offered as an option to satisfy those that want it.

If I collected these, I would want all the labels to look the same for conistency's sake. I understand that this is a matter of personal preference. I wouldn't want my set to have 10th ann labels, first strike labels, or other special labels mixed in.

  • Well, they SHOULD use it this time around, BUT they screwed up and used it LAST YEAR instead...

I suspect we won't see this labeling due to the public embarrassment of issuing two consecutive dates both labeled "10th Anniversary."

This is exactly why TGPs should not dream up their own labels and designations image

They already did this for the Gold and Silver, having both years.

I think they NEED to do it. Why wouldn't they ?? Because it's to much work. WE, THE CUSTOMERS are demanding it.

  • eric and afico I could not agree anymore. PCGS, please listen to your paying collector club's member. As of now 76% want you to use the 10 th anniversary label. Thank you :&ltimage

That was along the lines of my argument on the definition of the 20'th Century Type set. I lost. So in this case PCGS is being consistent. image

BTW I voted Yes, Of Course!, Naturally and Why Not?
  • If you have a girlfriend and you start dating dec. 13, 1997 then your 10th Anniversary would be dec 13,2007. :&ltimage

  • i think pcgs should authenticate and grade coins, not make designations contrary to what the mint designates. not saying the

mint or pcgs is off in the anniversary year, just saying the mint is the producer and pcgs is the authenticator...
