What say you? Should PCGS expand the BST in creating an auction format forum????

I have read many threads on this forum paying close attention to many veteran collectors and dealers likes and dislikes. A vast majority refer people to the BST forum when inquiries are made about selling coins however I have a problem with that as the majority of people wish to acquire the maximum financial reciprocation/gain they can achieve when selling their coins yet just posting them on the BST is somewhat very restrictive in the sense that there are just a handful of buyers compared to other venues. Another issue is that one must try to put a value on a coin in order to stimulate a sale then there is the coveted "you suck award" where one snags a coin from some rookie or unknowing collector for a pittance when the coin should have and could have fetched a premium had it had the proper audience. Sure there are the many auction houses but what if PCGS set up an auction area similar to ebay? I know I am opening up a big can of worms here but I for one would welcome a true auction type area within the PCGS site. So, what say you?

<< <i>The BST works very well as it is.... you have a knowledgeable audience, no fees, and usually a passing cyber-acquaintance between the buyer/seller. Please leave it as is. Cheers, RickO >>
Agreed!!!

No. -Preussen
show me the coin, tell me the price, and let me consider it works well.
I always question myself when I win an auction - I never do when I can consider the coin and then bargain on the price.
Leave it as it is. I do think there shoud be a "feedback" or "References" thread.
I can see a way for them to use their website for generating millions of dollars.
but my consulation fees are high.
I like your way of thinking though
I would rather see PCGS spend their resources on milk and cookies for all the posters over 55.

It is fine the way it is. Just post a pic a price and haggle off line.

<< <i>No, for obvious reasons... >>
I'm not sure what the obvious reasons are, but eBay's auction site is open to hundreds of millions while CU only has about 26,000 registered users here. Of course if PCGS decided to open up an acution format, I expect it would be available to all of the internet denizens. The BST in its current format only attracts a mere fraction of the the posters here on the US Coin forum. So, while I agree that there are no PCGS fees associated with the current BST format, it just doesn't attract enough traffic/volume to make for a viable coin exchange medium. For sure the best benefit of using BST is for buyers and sellers to advertise their wants and wares and pending eBay auctions.
