1974-D Clad Ike...MS66?

Here is a nice 1974-D clad Ike that I found for my Ike Dansco.

Criteria for the Dansco is 65 or better. I think this one has a shot at a 66 although it is likely borderline.

What say you?

I, too, see that coin in a 64 holder.

It is a nice coin for your Dansco, though.

My guess from the picture would be MS64. Beyond that is in doubt.
  • That is a MS64

Looks like a 63/64 coin to me, especially with the contact mark on the very center of the coin.

You'd have to look at about forty original mint sets to find a better one.

I hope you're not too disappointed with the grade. I agree with the majority that it's a 64. It's solid (not high) for the grade though.

No, not disappointed at all. I disagree that it is a 64, however. It does have a hit on the cheek and some smaller ones on the chin but the luster (which I did not accurately capture in the photo) is that of a 66. I would say that the coin is a 65 (an NGC 65) but it is really neither here nor there as it resides in a Dansco and will continue to do so until I find better.

  • A-yup, MS64, sorry. The reverse shows die clash with a nice jaw line running south from the Earth and a good Moon Line curving across the moon.

Jaw Line is from Ike's Jaw (go figure) and the Moon Line from Ike's head. Rob

It is a pretty coin. It doesn't have the mint set markers on it but
I suspect it's mint set anyway. If it were just a matter of marking
I could easily picture the chatter as insignificant and the only major
mark the scratch on the upper cheek and the reverse chatter. In
which case it would be close to a PCGS 65. The weak strike on the
eagle (especially the head) would probably still keep it out of a 65
    holder.
