an interesting email that I just received!!

Dear Sir or Madame,

The reason I am writing you is because I am very interested next year in investing in millions of dollars worth of gold, silver, & platinum (not to mention proofs and rare coins). I am relatively new to collecting gold, silver, and platinum coins but I understand that with the volatility of the world stock markets, the decline of the American Dollar to the Euro, and with advice from online market experts; investing in numismatics is the way of the future for me personally.

Since I’m new to the world of gold, silver & platinum coins and after reading the carefully put together pages by coin experts on the link below, I just want to be very careful, sure, and don’t want to be played the fool ---

http://coins.about.com/od/goldrarecoininvesting/Investing_in_Rare_and_Gold_Coins.htm

So this is what I am going to do, this is the opportunity that I am offering you. Presently, I am evaluating several online coin dealers, including yours from now until January 2008. First, how do I know that your “gold”, “silver”, & “platinum” coins are not just photos highlighted, copied, saved, and pasted from somewhere else in cyberspace onto your computer e-store screen? How do I know that you are really who you say you are, legit and reputable? And finally, how do I know that the coins are not expensive fakes prevalent like on Ebay?

I am super cautious online for good reason, since I am willing to invest so much money into these collectibles! After Enron, WorldCom, and the Dotcom Bust of the early 2000s, I am a person who dot all my i’s and cross all my t’s for good measure. Yes, I am a good man who trusts in God to lead in all my financial investments. So, if you are a reputable, honest, trustworthy person also who has nothing to lose like myself by investing a little time and effort to win a very open, willing, and ready potential customer over then I am asking that you would be so kind as to send me a complimentary gold coin, or silver coin, or platinum coins graded by a professional service for the benefits of inspecting for future confidence in your company to me RUSH to --- Andrel T. Johnson; 304 SW 3rd Avenue; Mulberry, Florida 33860-3031. God Bless you and Happy Holidays!

P.S. – If you do not wish to do so, I completely understand and do not wish to receive any emails convincing me otherwise. I pray that you will honor this wish, as I will respect your decision or indecision.

I guess that there are people that may respond to this. No coin people, mind you.

I firmly believe in numismatics as the world's greatest hobby, but recognize that this is a luxury and without collectors, we can all spend/melt our collections/inventories.

I'd respond and tell him it's in the mail (overnight for more instant gratification)... ask for you to be told when it shows up... see what happens when it hasn't arrived on time.

Perhaps you can bug him by reminding him he must be home between 9-5 to sign for it image

  • SCAM.... Tell him to send you a 1000 if he's a millionaire andshow him what you can do with that. Explain that all certified coins are guaranteed an that the 3pg guarantee grade and authenticity. I would do a background check or ask if you could send it to his work office. Don't fall for it and good luck.

I for one, admire a person that has millions to spend on coins and still lives in a modest home/hood.

Tell him you'll be visiting realtives Lakeland this Xmas and will drive the 10 miles to his home with only .25 mill in slabbed gold he can buy on the spot. Oh, and he should have the cash on hand since you'll be there after banking hours.

I hope I don't offend anyone with this comment, but whenever I encounter someone that says "God sent me to you for [legal/accounting/whatever] services", those are the people who also expect that Jesus will pay your bill once you send it to them.

Heck, you can make a great hook-up with this guy! Just forward him some of those Kingy emails from Botswana that needs to wash a few million through a US bank account. These guys hook up and you take 10% and it will all be good.
