Selling misc coins

OK, so I have to sell some coins. I have misc. wheat, foreign, morgans, peace dollars etc. Now I have done just enough research to confuse myself totally...LOL I just rented a 100mm macro lens that will be here next week so that I can take decent pics of the coins for them to be sold on ebay. Now the reason I want to have great pics, is that I dont know enough about the coins to represent them fully, and I am letting the pictures speak for me. I do not want to missrepresent myself (or the coins) at all. My question is if I should sell the coins individually or as groups? Like all the Morgans together? Any help would be great. I am a bit overwhelmed with the diversity of the coins, and I just dont have the time to research the value on every one.

Assuming the Morgans and Peace dollars are common dates, none of that stuff will bring much. So, yes, you should probably group coins together.

Group the coins and offer them here on the BST.... avoid fees, trusted audience. Cheers, RickO

good pictures should speak for themselves. BST is a good choice as you can avoid ebay fees.

Find someone who knows something about coins to look at them and tell you what their worth. If you don't know anyone, make a list of the denomination, date, mintmark and approximate condition (if you know anything about that) of each coin, and post the list here. If there are coins of any value in the list, you could post your city and state here in this forum. You will likely find someone here willing to take a look at them for you at no charge. You can get references ahead of time and arrange to show him/her the coins and find out what you've got.

  • I had thought of doing the BST here, but as I have never used it, I was not sure what to expect. I think I may just concentrate on each group and list condition (I have a little bit of knowledge there) year, etc. to see what others think.

As mentioned tell it like it is add good pictures ( or as good as you can honestly do) and have a good return policy then proceed to the BST if that doesn't suceed then eBay. I would suggest you check out the post on the BST board by member Cartwheel he has done well building a college fund for his children and has been easy and professional to deal with.
