So, 2 quick questions, answers posted later today. These come from last month's bulletin of my local coin club.

First, what single item of legal tender currently being produced for circulation in the US features portraits of two US presidents?

Second, what was the first silver coin produced by the US without a lettered or reeded edge?

Well the Lincoln cent has Abe on the Obverse and Abe on the Reverse.

The Illinois State Quarter has Washington on the Obverse and Lincoln on the Reverse.

Which one are you referring to?

I'm just guessing on the Silver 3 cent piece.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

    The name is LEE!
  • Since the question referred to coins CURRENTLY being produced, I will venture to say the Lincoln cent.

My guess is 3c Silver for the second question.

$2 bill, 3c silver (which pretty much doesn't even have an edge, much less a reeded or lettered one)

so...is the "statue" of lincoln on the $5 considered a "portrait"?

For #1 I guess you could give a variety of answers, I was looking for the $2 bill, Jefferson and Adams are both on the reverse. However, the other answers are obviously valid too.

For #2, the first 1836 Gobrecht dollars were produced with a plain edge.

Why not? Perhaps just as much as the back of the $2 bill.

  • Without looking at the answers i came up with the South Dakota State Quarter (I know...it has 5 presidents on it...Mt. Rushmore?) and the Gobrecht dollar.
Want to buy an auction catalog for the William Hesslein Sale (December 2, 1926). Thanks to all those who have helped us obtain the others!!!
