5000 Post Give Away Inquiry

19Lyds19Lyds Posts: 26,491 ✭✭✭✭
5,000 posts is quickly approaching!

I'm looking for ideas on what to giveaway and how to give it away.

Suggestions?
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

The name is LEE!

I think a silver american eagle given to the first 5000 responders would be an awesome give-away.

If he could be given away to another country, and that was the prize, many would be all over it image

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Make it a random lottery giveaway. Create a thread and anyone who posts to the thread is entered. Draw a name from a hat to decide the winner.

Decide on a dollar amount that you want the giveaway to be worth. Say, for example $50.

The winner gets to go to eBay and pick one coin worth $50 and you will bid and win the coin for them.

Never met a giveaway I didnt like.

    An Ike variety?

As for the method I dont have any really good ideas.
I'll see your bunny with a pancake on his head and raise you a Siamese cat with a miniature pumpkin on his head.

You wouldn't believe how long it took to get him to sit still for this.

  • You could buy the winner an eBay Gift Certificate.

Just choose whomever you like the best and give them something.
  • I like the Ebay gift certificate idea, but put a twist on it - the number of responses to this thread can be the $ amount! then pick the person with the least amount of replies. image

Then have them pick another auction. It needs to be a coin really worth $50 to work. If you're bidding on $100 coins then it will never work. Better yet, have them pick a BIN auction at $50.
  • How about ngc ms64 1923-p peace dollar. It must be given to a YN and i will supply the coin.

Another possible idea could be a sweetened trade deal, where the winner gets to send you one of his coins in exchange for a coin of yours that's just a little nicer and perhaps, a bit more expensive. Sounds a little complicated now that I'm re-reading that to myself, but you catch my drift.

Since you're an Ikester, why not a nice PCGS DCAM proof Ike?

Despite my past scorn of "Bald Guy Bucks", I've cleaned up my act a little and give them a little more respect, now. image

I still think the proofs are sexier than the business strikes, though.

Edit: whoever made the eBay gift certificate idea had a stroke of genius. That's a good suggestion.
