Why do my photos turn to Red X's?

I have been having trouble with photos turning to red x's after I post and check the thread. I am using the img statements and the address from my MSN.GRoups photos. I check the thread and the photos are ok. Then, some turn to red x's. If I go in and recopy the same address, the photo is fixed but then a different photo will go Red X.

What I am doing wrong?

Do you need to be logged into MSN (ie..."you" = the viewer) in order to see them?

To test this, log into your MSN account, post the photos there, go into the test forum here, post the images. Check to see if YOU can view them. Log out of your MSN account and then go to the test forum here to your thread and see if you can see them.
If not, then it is a permissions thing from MSN.

I checked the permissions in MSN.Groups and they seemed ok. I am not logged into MSN now and some photos are there and some are not.

I wonder if it is a memory thing with the size of the photos??

You may want to try a different photo hosting service, one that is designed to be open to the public.

Photobucket.com, auctivia.com.....and I'm sure there are 1000's more that are free.

I've always thought a value website (you can get domain and hosting for around $30 a year) was the way to go. You have full control of your pics for as long as you like and gives you a lot of other features such as FTP.

That said has anyone tried the new yahoo site flickr.com for image hosting? havent heard if you could link from them or not.

You absolutely want to go with something like Photobucket.com. I had the same issue when I uploaded pictures into my Yahoo account. The address always changed so any link that I would post would be irrelevent minutes later. Photobucket doesn't have that problem.

Red X's are like milk spots, don't know when one will show up. I do know that if the pic is removed from where the link tells it to look, a red X will show up in its place.
