1960 Lincoln Penny Small Date. How Much Is It Worth?

Hi I don't know to much about proof sets, but I bought 10 1960 proof sets for $16.00 a piece. I know they are all SMALL DATE pennys,in original plastic.
What would be the average value in the range of Pf 65 to Pf 68? Did the mint strike coins ok that year? Is it possible to get high grade for the SMALL DATE penny?
Lastly is the Small Date 1960 lincoln cent overrated!

The uncs might be overrated a little but the proofs are better. Keep in mind though
that buyers want nice looking proofs if they're buying them raw. You might be able to
sell a run of them but if you pick out the best they'll be hard to sell.
This coin comes real nice but I don't know about its incidence as a cameo.
<< <i>Holy Cow!!! I'm new and made a mistake already, the Lincoln cent is a 1960 Small Date, sorry. YaHa >>
I would guess I have done that a few times myself.
Probably not more than a few hundred times
Stone probably hit the prices about right.
I'm thinking it needs to be a 67 or better to make it worth pulling from the set.
You might watch Ebay prices to see what they are bringing.
There are also a few varieties to check for. Any of the small/large or large/small are worth big premiums.

Welcome YaHa,
You spent $160 on coins and you say you don't know much about proof sets. If the purpose of you buying ten sets is to sell some of them and make a profit, I doubt very much if you will. I am a COLLECTOR of Lincoln cents and I own just about all the circulation strike and the proof strikes in the series. The 1960 small date proof as a RAW coin is very much available to people who collect that coin. Unless one of the sets you have actually contains a cameo or deep cameo example I think you would be lucky to get $2 or $3 for such a coin. Your opinion of the grade or a dealer's opinion of the grade of a RAW coin is just that, an opinion. The potential buyer will have an opinion also. My suggestion is to study up on particular coins before you buy them.
Welcome to the Coin forum. You will find many people here who will provide you with many different opinions and ideas. Good luck with the hobby.

Things have cooled off a bit since then.
I knew it would happen.
I think I recall the 1960 sm date proof sets actually reached $40. (Probably about $240 or more in terms of today's money!) Plus these were fro non-cameo'ed sets. Yeah, I do wholeheartedly agree that their market has cooled down a tad...
