Mint State Brown.

Nothing special with regard to date or mintmark but I love 66BN Lincolns. Hopefully someday, someone will make a 67BN at PCGS!

Purchased this one from P8NT on the BST...Gotta love Brown:

I don't own any 66 BN coins. image These usually come very nice. The best I can do is a 65 BN:

Brown copper can be beautiful, it's too bad PCGS apparently refuses to grade brown Lincoln cents at the MS67 level.

Really? They graded this old copper:

I posed the question on the Q&A forum and received a reply from one of the PCGS Executives. Basically, the reply was that it was very unlikely that a brown Lincoln would ever have the luster or eye appeal needed to make a 67. There are no Lincolns or IHC's graded 67BN. I believe that we will see one at some point.

I am surprised to see your 67BN Sou, Colonial Union. Was that graded recently?

These are all great, and I think PCGS is missing the point that grading is SUBJECTIVE. Therefore how can you be some darn absolute. Sounds like the Copper haters are having their way again.

Some great looking coins have been posted to this thread. Even though these aren't the best images, just thought I'd post one of mine and bring it back up to the top. image

I have to agree, I started to not like most cents with the RD designation. The brown/red brown coins seems to have a lot more character and eye appeal. Or at least there are more nice ones to choose from.

I agree completely. The RD designation is also used rather arbitrarily in many cases, and the premium just isn't worth it in many cases, IMO. A super clean MS-66BN beats an MS-65RB in terms of eye appeal almost every time.

  • What do you guys think of my coin??? Its not exactly Brown, but its a nicely toned Red Brown
