Would PCGS holder this 1807 bust half?

I have no idea what the stain infront of her mouth is. It doesn't show up with a 10x loup, but
always shows in a scan.

    I highly doubt it would.

I mean it's a 200 year old coin for crying out loud!!!

In my opinion, no. Too much cleaning and discoloration.

Color doesn't look right unfortunately. Probably get BBed for altered surfaces
Positive BST transactions with: too many names to list! 36 at last count.

  • There a lot more forgiving on the rare dates/types...

I have seen alot more questionable 1807's in pcgs plastic...

I'd say 50/50 from the scan, a photo would give a much better idea...

    Either way, I like it...image

Was this imaged with the OTT's?

She's got alot of meat. If the surfaces have enough luster and aren't too hairlined, I think she's got a shot. But I would not be surprised to see her slabbed EF.

I agree with DenverDave. I think it has about a 50% chance.

PCGS XF45. I can't see why it would bag. If it's been wiped and has hairlines that don't show in the pics, then that's a different story.

It is worth the try, the increase in value, and sellablity, will be a lot more than the cost of the grading. PCGS coins are hot on eBay and elsewhere now.
JMO and I sure would like to have one like that in a PCGS salb.

Edit to add my try at attributing it as O.113 or O.113A probaly the A for the amount of die cracks.
  • Put it in a Kraft envelope for a few months, let it retone a touch, then send it in. It is not AT as it occured naturally in a paper envelope. The deep russet gray toning will make it all the more attractive than it already is. Gotta love that LDS!

Based on the pic only, I would say this coin would not grade.

It seems to have a 'porous' look about it that indicates a previous cleaning.

I was going to say : Let the butcher, the baker, the candlestick maker... and a few other choice fingers handle it... then put it an envelope image

This coin has been worked on more than Cher. Don't waste your time and money. I don't want to sound rude, but why did you buy it?

Sorry, but I vote it will not be holdered by PCGS. It would have a better chance with NGC. ANACS likely would net grade it.

Be sure to report back here with the PCGS results. We all could learn from your experience.
I collect Capped Bust series by variety in PCGS AU/MS grades.
