Can you enlighten us, Russ? I have NO idea, but was also astounded by the price.
Good transaction. I think his pricing is usually pretty good.
(Grady does have more 'mutually withdrawn' feedbacks than I like, but went ahead and bought it anyway.)

High watermark was $2700, and there's another listed on eBay right now for almost $800 more than is being asked for the one you linked.

I'm not a big subscriber to auctions that represent inventory not in hand.
Check out my current listings: https://ebay.com/sch/khunt/m.html?_ipg=200&_sop=12&_rdc=1
no, in fact I'm not typing to see myself print. Thank you very much. I've been interested in purchasing a PR70DCAM for my type set and have been trying to get a sense of their value. Most dates range from $300 (eBay current offerings) to $500-$600. My assumption was that this seller is capitalizing on low population numbers due to the recent issue (currently 11), and that someone would be stuck holding this awhile before its value caught up. Jeez, lighten up.
Buy this one instead:

Out of ignorance you come on here to attack a legitimate seller with whom many of us have done business, and I'm the one who needs to lighten up?

this is how the game is played... the person selling also has no idea of the future pop... if low... they sold too fast for to low... if too high... they did good... buyer assumes the same risk IMO... the Buyer has a mind of his/her own and should make the decision.

Again, why? Nearly every other year (?except the 1999-S) has settled down way below this price. What makes 2007 any different, other than the currently low numbers due to its recent release

You're right. I apologize and shouldn't have attacked this seller. I have just seen so many coins moving at moon money only to drop to a half or third of that value in a matter of months.
<< <i>What makes 2007 any different, other than the currently low numbers due to its recent release. >>
Nothing, but then that's beside the point. The market is what it is, and your attack on this seller for simply participating in that market is unjustified and lame.

Don't buy it. Don't buy the coin. The MS70 I just bouight from Grady might also 'settle down'.
Grady isn't perfect, but he sure as hell didn't cheat me when I did business with him, also for a 2007 70-grade coin.

Okay, I've been considering this thread for the last hour or so and letting it stew for a while. I'd like to apologize to all that I offended here, and I do feel like an a-hole. I've only been collecting actively for nine months or so and am still learning how to navigate this forum. Some members are actively hostile towards what I thought was a flipper in the case. Others say that this is just the business. In my ignorance I way overpaid for many new 2007 issues with low pops earlier this year (2007 State Quarter Silver 70's for example) only to learn that I really need to wait for new issues like these to cool off a bit. I think my response to Grady's auction was rather knee-jerk, and in light of the comments made here, was unfair. He is selling what the market will sustain. I saw the auction instead as detrimental to numismatics as a whole because I assumed someone was going to be left holding a way overvalued coin. So perhaps this post will buy some forgiveness, I've still got a lot to learn.

Sometimes. Sometimes not.
Last year was fun. I bought 3 20th Anniv. ASE (aftermarket) sets for about $150 each last Dec and got 3 more sets from the Mint. (The ones I got from the Mint were probably returns...) All graded all 69's. Couldn't get a 70.....
When you buy the moderns early, you are not a collector, you are a speculator.
If you are really wanting a PF 70 kennedy 2007, buy a bunch of sets direct from the mint and submit the ones that look good. That's what Grady is doing. That's why he has them to sell. He is flipping.

You are part right and part wrong. You are correct in speculating that whomever decides to pull the trigger on this coin will PROBABLY regret the purchase 5-10 years down the road if not sooner. You are wrong for attacking this seller as a "predator". He is simply offering a coin at current fair market value. Now if he were selling common date peace dollars for $49.95 and hyping them as being "rare" and "dont miss out before they are gone", then you have a legit beef.
