1963 Roosie Proof DDR - Where is the doubling?

Here is a link to a 1963 Proof Roosie listed on Heritage. I don't see the doubling? Where I am supposed to be looking?

Thanks for the help.

  • Hey Badger,

If you zoom in alot, you can see that the word Liberty is doubled.
The "3" looks like it has some doubling as well.

  • I can't see it either.

It is a doubled reverse so don't look for it on the obverse.

    Badger,

The pickup point is "UNITED" with a clockwise rotation. Look closely on the inside left of each letter on united, the left of EPU, and the leaves. The Cherry pickers guide shows 4 different varities.

Some variaties of this type , you cannot see with your eyes (Unless your supperman). You need to use a lupe. And even then you have to know what your looking for. Not usre about this one as I cannot seem to get the image to load on my compurter for some reason?

This is one area that PCGS needed to clean up a bit. Just listing "Doubled Die Reverse" didn't cut it.

There are now 4 doubled die reverses for this date in the Cherrypickers Guide. So which one is this? Who knows? The valuable one is FS17.5 - the rest are worth just a fraction.

PCGS should have at least provided which one it is like the other TPG's tend to do.

In any event, others have mentioned that the doubling is not visible to the naked eye. So you will not likely be able to see anything from the Heritage pics. It would have been nice if Heritage would have noted which DDR this coin is - but they probably don't have a CPG handy.
