  • Pretty colors, strike looks soft. I guess 63.

Torn between a 65+ and 66. Nice attractive toning and eye appeal.

I'll go with the 66 though even though there are a few tics on each side.

I like the look of your Hudson, nice tab toning. I looked at dozens of these before I located one
with a decent strike on Neptune, not that your coin isn't well struck, its an average strike.

The reverse looks very well executed and the sails look "almost" (*) pristine. As I said, I like the look of it.

I'd give it a MS 65, as there are some very minor marks - but I would not be surprised at all if
it went 64 or up to 66. Tough to grade without seeing it in person.

Edited to adjust my thoughts on the reverse sails...(*)

I like the toning a lot. The marks appear minimal. Where is the luster?

IF sufficient luster, grade guess MS 65, but I cannot grade such a coin from pictures.

    Hey Dizz,

I live in upstate NY so I wanted one of these.
I looked for one with a strong strike for a while years ago and had a real tough time finding one. I never found one.

I think yours is in a 64 slab with a usual soft strike.

I always loved the representation of the moon on these. The mermaid, Neptune and that ugly whale never really knocked my socks off though.

    Hey John,

You nailed it.image The coin does have much nicer luster in-hand though.
