ebay nukes my "W" PCGS MS70 Platinum

renman95renman95 Posts: 7,037 ✭✭✭✭✭
With 2 days to go on a 7 day bid, ebay nukes my tenth ounce "W" Platinum PCGS MS70. Picture shows full view of slab and coin closeups. I thought I had a pretty good description of the coin. I get the "counterfeit" reply and now my bidders are leery I'm sure. I hope they can figure it out. Can I contact them? I can't even find my item page.

I've been hearing others here complain and thought well it can't happen to me because I was pretty specific on my description and read the ebay emails...

I wrote ebay back and expressed my displeasure...I'm sure I will hear nothing.

You'll probably eventually hear from them. Was the SN exposed? If you had several photos they may have thought you had too many photos. I got some nuked for that. They think too many photos makes it look like you're selling more than one coin. --Jerry

Yes, both sides. I'm sure they are seeing something I'm not, but it's no different than any of my other auctions.

They're in the shoot first and ask questions later mode. They may well have made a mistake. If so they'll return the listing to your "unsold" folder where you can relist it from. --Jerry

no websites or prices mentioned in the description? Nothing that may send someone outside of ebay?
(sometimes people put things in with the best of intentions but ebay's rules won't allow it....never saw any of your auctions so I have no idea what it may be)

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

    No outside influences.

I got this amusing HTML email from ebay yesterday. Unfortunately the last 3 items that I "won" were retro cancelled AFTER the auction ended. The PCGS Colonial note didn't show both side of the "slab" and the PCI slabs are, of course, "unapproved."

Even worse than the "counterfeit" notice they send out on auctions cancelled before the end, these came with an email "fraud and safety" notice, and if I had already paid for these items "notify your bank and the police"

Let us take a look at one of your other auctions to see if we can spot anything amiss...

Do you have to plug in the certification number in the new prompt area they added for the approved certified coins they now allow?

I believe so, but only for those TPG's that qualify. Of course bullion is exempt.

I relisted last night. I put PCGS in the cert box. I took new pictures, so now I will have to just wait.

You should have no problems with that auction. BTW, I took a look at your closed auctions & I now understand why eBay may have removed some. A) cert. # blocked. B) no full scan of the reverse.

Opa, thanks. I see your point. I have always been leery of showing the cert-numbers in a public forum. I guess now we have to and I now have. I missed that part of the recent anti-fraud and counterfeit wave sweeping ebay coins.

I was going to add in the auction that ebay abruptly cancelled my auction with 2 days left and an apology to those who bid on the coin and received a cancel of auction notice (in the body.) I refrained in fear of being nuked again. But I did email ebay and suggested they hire some Numismatists to make numismatic decisions.

So, officially, to those on this forum who bid on this coin...I apologize.

Your last point is a very good one. They make enough of the COINS section that they could afford someone doing this 20hrs per work or even 40. That person would have their hands full but, as long as they weren't a buyer/seller on ebay (conflict of interest possible), it would be a good idea, imho, and worthwhile for them...to help keep good auctions and weed out bad ones.
