I dont know. Part of the BST benefit is avoiding fees and hassle of the bay. You would think people would have a price they want in mind. Just post the price. If you want an auction send it to the bay.

I dunno. Seems like a great way to NOT sell a coin.

    2 thoughts...

    1) Fishing expedition...why cut yourself short? (I don't use that one)
    2) No idea what it is really worth and don't want to offend someone (I did this on some 2007 clad proofs...I have NO idea what would be an acceptable price for them...I just wanted the dollars)

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

  • I don't have time to guess the price or send pm's back and forth. If It does not show a price, I move on.

I don't know, maybe for the same reasons one would trash a new mint sellout as junk only to back peddle on that statement when they skyrocket.

That's the basic reason why I don't make offers on those "Make an offer" listings. The only difference is I have no idea what the person offering it thinks its worth and I don't want to offend them. But that's just me.

  • I like the ones where they say "make offer"

Most times I make offer the seller ends up calling me some 4/5/6/7 letter word, what's up with that??

I'm the same way when I am looking to buy. If no price, I move on.
The only reason, for myself a couple weeks ago, when I placed the cut out proofs for sale, was because I had other items I was selling, with prices, and figured someone may need these and might want them tossed in cheap (or free depending what they bought).
As it was, they didn't sell and I am ok with that. Sold a priced item or two though image

My reason is I'm not looking to sell. I'm only looking to trade (which might exclude me from this topic). I'm looking for trades only and if somone has something I need and they see one or a few (depending on which coins), then I'm open for any resonable suggestion for trade.

  • I have a long list of stuff on the BST. A lot of those items I just put up on eBay, and when I edited my listing, instead of completely removing those eBay coins, I just removed the prices. Was easier at the time.

I think taking offers via PM is kind of chessey. Price it or don't list it. What's even worse is the people running ads on the BST forum wanting to buy one item in quanity with "PM me with your sell price".image

Hmmm...I do that to be able to get package deals, trades, and things like that together. If it doesn't work, perhaps I should put some prices on them.

Oh and also to not offend a guy I know who sells many similar coins for higher prices than I would ask.

An item I'm interested in with no price or make offer? No big deal.
I'd make a fair offer. So what's the problem. If someone doesn't know what their item is worth and don't want to get fleeced, I'll give them a ball park number. If they are fishing, maybe no one else shows interest and I get it at a fair price.

  • Some may not realize that when they ask for offers and wait until they get the best one, they are conducting an auction, not selling. This is being discussed more lately and the situation might improve.

Maybe they are asking too much and are afraid no one will ask about it if they see the price.

  • So the seller can crawfish when I send them a PM and tell em I'll take it.
